KUDOS to Kent and Angus


Thought i would give those who have not done business with these guys a little feedback:

Kent and his wife run Awindofchange in Vegas- Last week when i was there had an opportunity to go by the shop (Ahhhh, a real kite store where you can touch stuff) and meet them and pick up a bar i had been looking for as well as pick his brain on revs- he helped me upgrade my 20 yr old Rev II so that it should fly much better in lighter winds ( i still had the big fat old bridle with swivel hooks). When we were ready to go his wife offered to run us back down the strip to avoid another taxi fare which was very appreciated, when it was obvious that they were busy.

As for Angus- I started dealing with him 3 or 4 yrs ago when he sold me his personal flexifoil buggy. Over the years i have called him with general questions and continue to order things i might need. When i was looking for a depower gust muncher he was quick to recommend I find a used Arc over buying the new kite, i was looking at. He has always had the items ive needed and I am talking about bar parts, bearings, or misc hardware for some project i am working on. HE has become my kiting "hardware" store. And lets not forget his efforts in putting together JIBE.

It is so nice to work with folks that share my passion and are always looking out for their customers best interest. It is something that is hard to find these days.

PS i have worked with Dakitez and ECKS as well and also had great experiences, but in trying to get ready for JIBE have called on Kent and Angus more recently.

You can't go wrong with Kent, Dino, or Angus. They are all great guys that will take care of you because they all have a passion for the sport that put them here and in business to start with. They know kites and the equipment and take care of their customers. I mean no offense by omission of any other dealers, but I'm speaking from experience only here. I might even be the only person in the world that has been in all 3 shops! Any others out there?

yes. very helpful guys indeed and good to deal with.
i have a new bridal for my revII too but looked at it and could not figure out (visualize) how one would do the swap so i'm sure it's still old school.
iirc i was thinking i'd have to cut the old bridal off..no? the newer bridal seemed to not have same size lengths (in some areas) of the bridal?

I have not met either one, but I look forward to meeting them both as well as other kite nuts, just the same! Will finally get to meet Angus next week! It is going to be great to meet the man who organizes such a large event.

Thanks for the kind words! It was a pleasure to meet with you and had a great time talking about kites with you. I am glad you enjoyed your visit.

As for the Rev Bridles. They can be a little tricky but you do not have to cut them or untie them to put them on or take them off the kite. To remove the bridle, start on the wing tips and undo the larks head around each wing tip and on each leading edge end. Once those are off, then take off the upper spar connection points by undoing the larks head. Now the entire bridle should be hanging from the center of the kite.

You will need to un-larkshead the entire bridle from the looped line. Just pull the larks head open and pass the rest of the bridle line back through it. The bridle should then be off the kite and the looped line in the center should still be attached.

To add on the new bridle:

If you have one bridle that is complete put together, then just reverse the directions above, starting with larks heading the center of the bridle to the loop, then attaching the lines as you work out to each end.

If you have three bridle lengths, take the longest length first. This would be the line that runs along the entire leading edge of the kite. Find the center loop and larks head the line to the center loop of the kite. Then move out to each leading edge end cap and larks head the bridle onto each end. Then take the other two lengths. The extra long loop goes towards the top of the kite. Larks head the end cap on the top and bottom of the spars with the extra long loop on the upper end of the kite. This extra long loop will connect onto the upper leading edge line that you first attached. These vertical bridles should run behind the leading edge bridle, one on each side of the kite.

After the top and bottom are attached to the end caps, grab the very end of that extra long loop of the vertical bridle and from underneath the long loop, feed the smaller loop of the leading edge bridle through the extra long loop. Then, take the end of the extra long loop and from the bottom, feed it again through the smaller loop of the leading edge bridle line on the top, creating a loop within a loop. Pull tight and you should have the top and vertical bridle hooked together with the pigtail to attach your top flying line.

Kent replaced mine this morning no problem really helped what you showed me regarding connecting the down bridles to the top bridle. I did a quick vid on my phone and will post if anybody wants to see. I sent it to revpaul

Yeah, a big thanks to Angus. Hes got alot of good information and links on is site that have really helped me out. Gets orders to you quickly, expecting line extensions soon. I'm vacationing near Brunswick this August and hope to stop by Jekyll island and catch him on the beach.
