New no wind toy
So today I had a vacation day, and just got my 7.5M Apex III last week, and of course, the wind was hardly blowing. Last week, however a co-worker
was selling a brand new, if basic, kayak, which I got a good deal on.

In Texas we have wide, slow moving, immense rivers with a lot of room on either side. I myself own a few kayaks and have given serious thought to
using one with a kite.  I think it could be done with little to no modification
to the kayak with practice... maybe riding tandem using the back person as a rudder would be easiest? Hmmmm...

Snap! Did exactly the same thing two weeks ago. Bought Southerly Buster's home made fiberglass white water boat. Of course, now I'm looking at all
these plastic day touring kayaks with hatches and nice seats etc etc.
Last time I was at Kingston I was looking at a glassy ocean one morning and it struck me, 'why the heck don't I bring a kayak to these meets'?? I
used to flatwater kayak a lot in my early 20's and now I'm in my 40's I need the exercise!!
In fact, not more than 10 minutes ago I was watching Todd's Jibe video on XK and it struck me - would it be possible to stand up in a kayak and use it
like a kiteboard ?? heh heh heh.......

John for that you should use a paddle board. They are stable and made to be stood on while going. I bet some practice would be needed to use a kite
though!

Whitewater kayaking makes kiting seem super safe, but it is fun on a no wind day. I was out kayaking yesterday and had the same conversation about
using it with a kite. (how would you roll back up while the kite is dragging you? ) Seems like it is worth a try all the same.
