6m2 NPW9b Progress

Hey,

Just thought I'd share my progress on my next kite. Almost ready to start hooking up the bridle. It's 6m squared and now that its all together I am wondering if its too big ;-) The 2m I already have pulls pretty darn good in decent wind. I have the feeling this thing is gonna pull like a truck!

I am really hoping to have it done for the Swift Current Kite Festival and show it off.

http://www.windscapekitefestival.ca/

Its not really a traction event or anything, but I read somewhere there might be a buggy demo or something. If anyone else is going, let me know, it would be great to meet you.

Cheers,

Dave

Looking good.

Just out of curiousity, was the selection of "Superman" colors intentional?

No, but maybe subconsciously I knew that that's who I would feel like while flying it.

Looks great. Good luck and start flying in light winds till you get the hang of it.

The Superman is ready!

I finished up the bridling today.

Was sooo tempted to take it out to the field... but winds were way to strong.

Settled for on handles only and in the backyard... and it looks awesome all filled out. I am gonna go over all the lines and knots one more time, but I think its good to go.

I can't wait to get it out and give it a try on some longer lines. I'll post a pic of it in action when I really get it out.

Cheers,

D

 Really nice job!!! Let us know how much you love flying it! I love flying my 7M, made by kitemaker4, in almost no wind, and having people wonder how you are doing it. I hope you fly it at the festival! How proud to say you made it yourself! Heck, I'm proud to say "It was made for me by a lady in Louisiana, I call her 'RASTAS FURY' because if a good gust grabs ya, just hold on for the ride!"

It's ALIVE!

Well, I just had the Superman out.

It flies awesome! First, I took it out on 3m lines (thanks Bladerunner) and it filled out and flew great. Also gave me a chance to see any bridle lines that might need adjusting... so far, can't see any. Figured I needed a bit more pull as winds were low so out with the 17.5m lines... WOW!

Skudded on the gravel road until my arms were ready to fall off.

Need a picture of it in action one of these days.

Can't seem to think of anything that needs to be adjusted other than perhaps changing the brake line length a bit on the kite by adding another knot or something.

Just need to fly it some more. Should be a blast in the winter on a snowboard too!

There are lots of water kiteboarders in the area... I just really wish there were some land-peeps around.

NICE !!! Looks clean and RTF. Which spec did you use for the bridling, the stock 9b from the program or the Teega profile ?

Went with standard 9b... the Teega looks intriguing, but the plans for it were not as straight forward... also, its more than a bridle change for the Teega... it has lots of tweaks... maybe for the next one I build but I am pretty happy with the 9b.

I have made several of the teegas and was not happy with them. Just sticking to making the npw9. Just my two cents.

Thanks Susan for the advice. I have heard so from others, but hearing it from you seals the deal. Maybe someday I could be a NPW demi-god or something :)
