Synergy upwind settings

Hi everybody,

I recently began my kitesurfing season with my "new" quiver: a Vortex 10 and a Syn 15. ( I bought them last winter ) My first ride was with the Vortex since the wind was quite high, about 20-22 knots, I had a lot of fun. It was way better than my old Bomba 15 that I had before. With the Bomba I was not able to keep a line or go upwind, but I was thinking that it was cause by my lack of experience since I don't have many occasion to ride. But with the Vortex I was able to go upwind fine. I was pretty happy.
I tried my Syn 15 on water today in wind about 13-15 knots with all straps loose, but I found myself not being able to keep a line and did many walk of shame on the beach to return upwind.
Is there a setting that would help me going upwind ?
Thank you

Matt.

Depending on your weight, you may have been a tad underpowered?????I'd think that the full loose straps should be the way to go. Remember an arc performs best in its upper range. But my water skills are extremely lacking, so maybe best wait for someone else to chime in.:dunno:

I couldn't ride a syn 15 in 13 to 15 knots. But 22 knots is just starting to power me up. I'm 230 lbs though. I've got 30 lbs on Phree to compensate for our skills gap. I can run the 15 up to 30 mph without things getting out of hand. Your board type and size along with your weight can help us get more detailed.

Thank you for your comments !
It's possible that I was a bit underpowered, the wind was gusty with big gusts, it was hard to get the right amount of power. I'm 150lbs so my range is not the same as BeamerBob's. I only have 1 board and it's an Airush Switch 138*42.

Make the power with the kite, use the board to edge upwind. Remember, the arc is a C-kite so you gotta work it more than just parS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-n'ride ... well I reckon anyway.

It's my humble opinion that the best setting for the Synergy is tip straps loose, center strap tight, VPC for maximum effect ... that turned it into more of a sheet-in and shoot-off monster :)

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...
