Hello and thankyou!!!
Hello all!
Just wanted to introduce myself. I have lurked on the PKF for 6 months, and was a major part of me deciding to get into the sport. Knowing that there
are people posting about the same things I have been going through is a great help. This is a great community and I hope to add what I can!
I have been flying the Hydra 350 since January and have just got through a few sessions in a field with my Neo2 8m. I can't wait for: strong enough
winds for the water, time off from work during those winds, and my GF to get off my back about a "stupid" kite I bought. Let me know if any of you
have encountered these issues, and what you did to resolve them.
Cheers!
Good winds!

Stupid Kite??? How DARE she.... only joking. Although the number of kites I own has caused a wee bit of friction.
Hopefully, you don't call any of her hobbies/expensive clothes stupid or tell her what she can or can't spend her money on. And I would gently point
this out to her. However, if you are guilty of that.....well, what goes around comes around!! Anyway, kites are quite cheap compared to collecting
motorbikes or cars etc etc.
Plus it gets you fit, keeps you out of her hair, provides you with aoxomoxoa so that your stress free, calm and relaxed...
And if THOSE excuses don't work, encourage her over to the dark side....get her her own powerkite to play with.
Failing all that, lots of beer may help dull the pain

Haha so true John. Great ideas. Especially the beer!
Haven't regretted a kite purchase yet. And if I'm like any one on here, the buying won't stop. The quiver must grow!;-)

Watch the for sale section for used gear. Many times you can snatch up a good deal on a kite/board because someone is trading up to new gear. The
cost of gear sounds crazy to many people when you first tell them what you just paid for a kite. I've had people laugh at me when I said how much I've
paid for my quiver (really not too much considering) or how many kites I have (not that many really). I sit back and let them laugh, and when they are
finished I remind them that my hobby is year round, and they can only use their $15k snowmobile in a certain time of the year, and they won't use that
motorbike when its snowing and blowing. The issues with wind while you are working are the bane of a kiter's existence, it has been windy all week
long while I've been working, now that the weekend is here its raining hard and I can't fly. You'll get your time to fly eventually, we all have dry
spells one time or another. Learn to balance time with you GF and when you go out invite her to come along. Teach her to fly and she'll be checking
the weather looking for wind just like you.

Welcome to PKF. Getting your GF to kite is a mixed blessing. Yes, she will no longer mind about all the time you spend kiting, but she will be made
as hell if you go when she can't. Yes, she will no longer care about how much you spend on kites, but you will have to spend twice as much because
she will want new gear too.

I did not know 420 was an Ontario area code.

All great points, especially since we all know how much gas costs; wind engines are the ticket! Also working hard on getting the GF into kites. She's
curious to know why I am obsessed with wind and weather sites so she'll come around I'm sure.
I think even tho I don't have a lot of free time, when wind and schedule come together it's that much more appritieated. But blast those lucky enough
to have time, weather and location on their side all the time lol. Does that describe any one here? lol

Thanks for the site; the more learning you do off the kite the better I say!:eureka:
Scud: Haha mixed blessing indeed. Careful what you wish for I guess right?
...420 is a Time Zone too!
