open cell foil on water
Someone sent me this photo of flying an 8m open cell, fixed bridle, foil on a water board. Anyone else fly fixed on the water?

Is it possible to design for strength, if the designer doesn't really understand what strength is?

no, i've only witnesses people flying out of jest. it does work, but if you drop your kite, then you are completely screwed.
i can't think of any good reason to choose to fly open cell on water except to say that you have.

Spelopower used to talk about it. I think I have seen a video of Ripsessions doing it with a vapor but not sure. I have seen a thread pop up
everynow and then. I actually considered it the other day when it was too windy for my 8m Neo but I didn't have the other kite with me that day.

There's a fellow here who only flies Flexifoil open cells on water, and he's been doing it for years. Gotta respect someone who's good enough (and
brave enough) to do it.

I did when I started kitesurfing 12 years ago. Flew a Quadrifoil XXXL and a Mosquito Pro 5.5, both on handles. Worked great, but no depower.
Crashing wasn't an issue.

If this is who I think it is . We are lucky his parents are slowing him from progressing to the water too fast. We will lose one heck of a great kiter
+ Great Kid when he moves to water full time.
I don't think we need to worry about this kid dropping that kite. I haven't seen it happen in over a year!

Same as Steve - used the XXXL a number of times, once even used a 3.5 m foil in ripping winds and last year threw up a 10.8 Reactor on a door in
shallow water just to show a few guys it could be done.
