Making Plans, Looking for deals.

OK, so I'm starting to make my travel plans to get out to the playa again this year. Things are still a little up in the air as to how I'm going to get there and where I'm going to stay.

[There's a chance my dad and I might make the long drive from Ohio with his fifth wheel and just camp on the playa, but this is only if my dad can convince my mom to let him go. :) ]

If not I'll just fly out and stay in a hotel again this year.

So, are any hotels giving deals again this year? If so how do we need to referance them?

I'm hopping to get out there for the whole event this year, instead of just the end like last year, and maybe even part of the pre-event. For the pre-event, how close are the other lakes to Prim? Worth while getting a hotel there or just sleep in your car kind of thing or are there closer places to stay?

Can't wait to get back out there and play!

NABX.NET has info on the hotels in Primm that offer deals. Here is a link to the page:

http://www.nabx.net/about.php#hotel

You need to call and give them the group code when making your reservation.

Counting days already!!

Howdy Buggy-Brother,

No hotels at Elmer's.
Nearest are in Adelanto, about 12 miles away.
Even more in Victorville, another 10 miles.

Some make the commute, others camp.
You can leave buggy gear on the playa, like at NABX, so it's not too bad.

Elmer's is about 3-4 hours from Ivanpah.
Depends.
On traffic and weather and what you're driving.
I drive a 1985 VW Vanagon so I take the full 4 hours.

The cheapest room rates at Primm are across the freeway (South-bound side) at Whiskey Pete's.
Last time I checked, the "special" rates at Buffalo Bill's were the same as if you walked in.
Which is cool.
Consider their audience: Been on the road from SoCal for a few hours, nearly to Vegas, What would make them stop?
Cheap room rates and cheap food.
Not a give-away like the old day of Vegas, but nice rooms and good food, reasonably priced, sitting at the end of the lakebed.

The other lakebeds we like to hit, Superior, Silurian, Silver are all between Primm and Elmer's.

It'd be cool if Dad can make it.
You'll both be welcome residents of buggytown.

Corey is right about the rooms at Primm. Last year I stayed at Primm Valley Resort. It seemed like kinda of a waste since I was only there for "Shower, #@%$#!e and shave" but her, my buddy who bailed payed for it. THANKS DUDE!

Moving right along. The hotel for Elmers would be the Days Inn in Adelanto. I have stayed there several times. It has clean rooms, good showers, is rather quiet and is right across the street from the Sheriff's station. :saint:
It is family owned and operated and they are very nice people. I usually pay around $65 a night, which is not bad at all.

Here is the contact info:
Days Inn - Adelanto
11628 Bartlett Ave
{Hwy 395 & Bartlett}
Adelanto, CA, 92301 US
760-246-877

See you on the Playa!
