I am about to purchase a 12 m Wipika kite. I have a bar but no lines. what kind of lines should I buy, where can I get them cheap? anyone have any experiance with buying bulk 500lb dacron line and making their own line set. do I need 5 lines or can I hook it up with 4 like a land kite?

It may depend on the kite needing 4 or 5 lines. You can do just fine buying bulk spectra and making your own. One thing to be sure and do... pre-stretch the crap out of the lines before you sleeve them. This will make a much better set. You dont want to have to keep going back and re-equalizing them all the time. You will also have to get a sleeving kit, or at least some sleeving, and get you something like a stiff guitar wire to run throuth the sleeve to pull your line through.

Thats one of those things thats not too cheap, compared to buying one with the kite. Buying a kite complete may be the best bet. That way you get lineset, bar and kite.

I have also bought a kite on ebay without lines or a bar. I looked on ebay and they are selling a few new airush bars and line kits fairly cheap. <$110 What are the benefits to getting a pulley bar vs a normal bar. Does anyone have anything bad to say about airush. What length lines are recommended.

160lb rider 14m high aspect kite. Average winds 10-20knots.
