Sand anchor for self launching LEIs
Has anyone tried one of these? I heard it holds pretty good insofar as wind forces on an umbrella goes and I know the force on the T3 chickenloop is
pretty tame (and far more lateral than the force from an umbrella in the wind) so I think it might work.
We have one anyway but thought if anyone had tried they could save me the comedy and potential bad stuff on a public beach if it didn't work

Should be able to launch/land without an anchor ... I do it all the time and don't consider myself an expert
So unless your launch site is really tight ...
What we have at the lake is old 10kg rice bags full of sand tied off with 5mm rope and buried. I never use them though :D
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

I'll have to go out to the field to try this a few times so I know how much the kite travels but it looks like I can do this without an anchor on the
beach here. Pretty tight but not so bad.

Depending on the kite ... fly it to the edge of the window, balance it on a wingtip on the ground - all depowered as much as possible - and pull the
center lines. Should flop over onto the LE into the wind ... SAFE!

IF YOU HAVE GUSTY SHIFTY WINDS THERE IS A STEEP LEARNING CURVE
MAKE SHURE TO DEPOWER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IF IT FLIPS BACK OVER AND INTO THE WINDOW PULL THE RELEASE IMMEDIATELY THAT WAS MY MISTAKE
I WAS INLAND AND DIDNT WANT TO END UP WITH A BROKEN KITE SO I TRIED TO FLY IT OUT THROUGH A GUST NASTY ENDING

Landing's a breeze - it's the launch that I'll try as shown in that other video. Looks easy enough as long as the kite won't get damaged. Should be
OK.

Irony.........
Tomorrow we're set for a full day at the beach on the home stretch of our family getaway. We're in Salmon Arm and have found a great place with a
dog-friendly beach so we popped into Canadian Tire to get some spur of the moment beach neccessities. Floaty, foam cooler, beach mat, bouyant frisbee
for the dog, and a beach umbrella. Guess what I DIDN'T bring along for the trip?
The umbrella anchor that I bought for occasions just like this and for some chickenloop launches/landings........

when in doubt... get a nylon strap aka tie down aka rope aka god leash... and find a nice big tree or log or rock :D Or bumper of an RV :o
