Ok... so i posed this question years ago.... i asked if this board could support a chat bar... i was told no...

well im shooting u2us back and forth and its buggin me...

does anyone know of a site we can start a chat room, and just pop in and out, so if i see someone browsing the boards i can just say wassup! (assuming they are on), without starting a thread, or eating up my u2u storage

Preferably one that has a password so the wilds of the internet dont invade... any ideas?

i dont use chat rooms, so i just have no idea if we can open a free PKF chat room somewhere with a password on it

Any reason (assuming you have them), that you haven't traded Skype, AOL/MSN Messenger, or Facebook (Chat) information with the people you are U2Uing?

i may have skype.. lol, using the computer intoxicated is not advised

i want to open a PKF "Bar" where you can walk in say "hi all", and walk out if ya want... id rather not load up IM software on the ol' work pc

Just did a quick peek and there seem to be a couple of packages that readily integrate into existing forums, but still require a customization/configuration.

Drew! Get you a FB page already!There are a great number of PKF members on there.You can make it where only your friends can see your page or post on your wall. You are missing out on alot of stuff that doesn't get on the forum + you can chat w/ all your kiting friends.

Grab a java or flash applet for any random IRC server, choose a room with a name linked to this forum, put the thing on some random (free?) webspace, and tadaa, we can all chat.

D@mn it.... just had to pop back onto Facebook so I could create as List of friends that only included PKF members. OCD strikes again.

Drew as long as you don't do all the silly games and don't click on the junk that comes up on your friends post because they play the silly games, F/B is all good. I have over 100 kiting friends from all over the world. I chat with them and they chat back. I talk to all my kite friends more than I do my High School/ mutual friends. Some are from PKF others are not.

I used to be a facebook hater, but now not so much!

FB is what you make it. Don't put it out there and it won't be out there. I only use my FB for my kiting related stuff. All other info is on a need to know basis. Don't want no baby momma drama on my page.

about a year ago someone googled me, in front of me, and it freaked me out how much info was pulled up on me just by that. There are places to go to look up names addys, everything about you. Wether or not you make your profile public, your information is sold to people.... not just your personal information... you can leave that blank, but the conversations you have with people... all logged, the ads you see are target at you based on everything you do there, everything you say, hell it wouldnt surprise me if they read the pages you looked at while it was open (doubt it, but still)...

my real problem with facebook is that you are the inventory! They lure you in with a free service, the sell your actions to other companies. You are a jar of pickles that fb is trying to sell... how nice of them to ALLOW you to talk to the jar of olives down the aisle you havent seen since the packing plant!

another example of my distaste... My father-in-law, nicest guy in the world, started a fb account to get signed up for a high school reunion... well some a$$hole got into his account and started spamming all of his "friends" with diet pill suggestions.... well obviously this pissed off more than a few people that had concerns about their weight! he lost a few friends (fb and irl lol) Im not saying this is the norm, but why subjuct yourself to the possibility of creating more stress and bs in your life!?! This is a prime example of people opening themselves up for more abuse... like making your bank password qwerty! People will always exploit you for personal gain, be it a diet pill, a work promotion (or demotion), or just to be a #@%$#!!

i dont like the fact people can look me up... the reality is that you can, and its part of this day and age... but i WIL NOT voluntarily give out my information for the benefit, and profit, of some skeezy "big brother" a$$!!

This is a huge button for me, as FB has become this gigantic beast of a corporation that you cant get away from... so everyone just tells me... "everyone is doing it, just do a little" IT DIDNT WORK WITH COKE! ITS NOT GOING TO FLY WITH FACEBOOK ( )
