Angus Rocks and saves our trip- thank you
Well Andrew and I are back from Jekyll and a big thanks to Angus for saving the trip for me. On Saturday I crashed my kite in the dunes (i Know - its
odd for me to crash ) but in the process ended up kite caught a reed
and put a 15" tear in the skin of my 16m venom II, ended up spending the rest of that day on the 12m which was just tooo underpowered but made it
work.
Angus came to the rescue and let me use his 18m Phantom for Sunday and monday. THANK YOU.
here is a quick run down:
Friday- kited for about 3 hrs winds were slightly side shore 10-12 mphs. Andrew got really comfy on the 10m vortex, and Angus joined us for a while
as well brought a newbie -Richard
Saturday- got about 5 hrs in winds 10 building to 15 by the time we quit (lost the beach). I was able to ride toeside as well as a few short manuals.
Andrew figured out the powerslide transition.
Sunday- EPIC- Angus joined us for a while early on but had to leave early. Winds started @10s but built to 18-19 with gusts to 22. Finally quit
after about 5 hrs of kiting because was getting tired holding down the 18m and Andrew was struggling holding an edge on the 10m (he is 90 lbs and had
spent the first part of the day on the 12m). Andrew figured out jumping and by the end of the day was getting 5-6 ft in the air and landing some,
most were in the 2-3 ft range. I had my biggest jump ever. I am guessing somewhere near 18-20ft. I was SCARED but i Landed it and rode away (had to
go check my shorts ) I was also able to make several aerial transitions
without eating too much sand.
Monday- Letdown arrived at the beach with an onshore 9 that quickly died was able to mow the grass for about an hour then wind petered out to nothing
so we packed and decided to head home a day early.
pics/vid to follow and no dont have one of my big air but Andrew will vouch for me, he thought we might be heading to the er when he watched it.

Hey Flyguy! Angus is an awesome guy that is passionate about all things kites. I'm not surprised that he saved the day for you and not with
something at the bottom of the kite trailer either! Hope to fly with you and your son someday.
