found some great new gear

after losing my 5th or 6th pair of cheapo sunglasses (with or without floaties) i decided to try some goggle-type shades...

the first pair i bought were these "ocean" brand made in australia... i gotta say, i love them... the elastic band makes them fit just right, and the contoured foam makes them cozy where you need em to be...

they dampen depth perception a bit is the only noticeable downfall...

made my last few days in corpus really nice... i recommend them highly...

prokitesurf/ fixmykite in corpus christi is where i bought them.... the guys down there are great... very nice, knowledgeable, and capable... i will go out of my way to do business with them again :)

They look like the generic Sea-specs clones ... I liked mine too - until they sank on me :(

I'm still crushing on my 720-armour Sharks - the new ones have a strap at the back and float nicely but ... they've yet to come off, no matter how hard I slam my head :D

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

hmmm... seaspecs at 200 or these at 50... ill gladly sport the ocean glasses... super snug... it would take a lot to knock these things off my head...

good thing i dont need a prescription...

and ive found that a floatie is not guarantee against losing some shades...

if these things last a year, they have outperformed the alternative... and the other brands they had didnt have an elastic band, just a webbing that didnt give much....

ultimately it was the elastic that sold me on them

Since I only kite in the surf floating shades do me no go at all. I've lost more sunglasses in the ocean than I care to remember. I now buy the cheapest tinted safety glasses I can find (around $10-$15) with 99% UV protection and drill holes in the stems for a bit of kiteline. Still no guarantee against loosing them (I just lost another pair in chest high waves last week) but a lot cheaper so the loss doesn't hurt nearly as much.

SeaSpecs was 3 pairs for $100 including worldwide shipping. The Sharks were one pair for $100  but are AWESOME ... no fogging in summer, minimal in winter so long as the air is flowing, and it flows well ... and they've yet to come off my head, let alone float away!
I'm gushing I know but I'm so much happier with the Sharks ... much nicer fit too, don't hurt my schnozz.

@ bigkahuna... the beauty of these is twofold... they are more snug, so offer more protection from spray, AND do not come off in a tumbler..

... the way i look at it.. if they last 3 times longer than the normal pair of sunglasses, then they have done their job... with the better coverage, i am def a happy buyer...

i imagine these will last a good bit longer than their equivalent in cheapo sunglasses... i hope so anyways...
