Long time "lurker" asks for advice...

So, I've been flying kites for about 3 years now. I started accidentally with a Prism Snapshot 1.4 and then moved on and currently have Ozone Samurais in the 4,5 and 6m sizes. I also have a Cabrinha waist harness and an HQ 4 line bar with wrist safety leash. I know kite jumping isn't the safest thing, but I do it whenever the winds allow and as a result have a decent amount of experience with the kites. Now, on to my question...

I'm interested in doing some snowkiting this winter. I live in the Chicago suburbs but go to college in Rock Island, Il and I have absolutely no idea where to start looking for a snowboard or even what I should be looking for. I have snowboarded some before, but have no idea what I should look for as it pertains to kiting while still keeping a decent budget (being a college student). Any help or tips in regards to snowkiting are greatly appreciated!

I really love what this community does and owe much thanks to everyone here!

craigslist is great some great scores out there......

a great board without breaking the bank.....

http://www.trusnow.com/Sierra-Crew-Snowboards.asp

also watch for great deals on clearance boots and bindings......

look for off season deals at trusnow.com or evo.com you can really score some deals if your patient..... February seems to be the best clearance month on new gear......

I got my K2 Raygun, Flow bindings, and Burton Jeremy Jones boots (unreal comfy boot) all new for about $350 between the 2 sites I mentioned above......

You can sign up on there websites and receive coupon deals in you email....... work the specials.....

just stay away from lamar boards they are cheap and prone to breaking easily. k2 very nice very expensive but burtons lowend lastyear boards are always nice usually 200 or so on sale at least in oklahoma.(why sell boards in oklahoma oh yeah i live here lol and love my snow.) the closer you are to ski resorts the higher the prices tend to be.

Mood: I miss kiting

Another decent site that can be hit or miss...

Got some protective gear, outerwear and on occassion has decent boots, bindings and boards. If you are gonna be on ice or really non fluffy snow, I suggest a magnatraction board if it happens to come up. Digs into the ice better with more contact points.

No kites left :(
Maybe someday I'll snowkite again
