Virginia Beach

Looking at the calendar, it’s soon time to return to Sandbridge, VA. We go the first week in September (otherwise I would try to make the Cheeseball rally) and stay at the south end. Every previous year, I show up, get in the water and leave a week later. This year I would like to try to get some fly time in with my son also.

I’ve contacted a couple of local folks and read the previous threads. It sounds like landboarding is not popular. Winds are not at their best. Options could be sections of the beach or Mount Trashmore dependant on the people .

At minimum, I’ll wander around with a new set of eyes and get some static practice in better winds. At best, find a good spot to board a bit.

Please weigh in on advice, options, tips, warnings, rules, or regs.

Thank You.

Kitesurfing is probably a better bet as they are a little finicky about who rides on the beach. Depending on how far you want to drive, there are other options. However, if all you are looking for is landboarding, then your options are a bit slim...

Labrat,
I am from VA beach and have been eyeing down below sandbridge in the back bay area (ocean side) it look slike at low tides there maybe enough room to ride but have not checked it out in person. I am considering going to visit the folks weekend of the 10th and 11th so when are you going to be there and if it works out we could meet up and check it out together. I know that area used to have very few people there but that was over 20 yrs ago since last time i was there.

ragden: Just land stuff for now. Give me your best shot at the closest options – Top or top three. Who knows what I’ll do, it is a vacation.

Scott: The actual dates are arrive 3rd, leave 10th, I would most likely miss you. Let me know how that develops and at minimum, I’ll let you know what I learn.

I have some friends with a summer place in sandbridge. They have been wanting to see what all this Kite Stuff is about. I'm down with trying to get something together.

The best I can offer is to use the busy holiday weekend to look around and let you guys know what I find. I’ll be in touch. Thanks.
I’ll pack a tape measure to give you an idea what kind of hard pack there is.

I heard three houses one block down and one road back lost roofs.

I'm in VA now, but arrive at the beach tomorrow afternoon to see what I have to work with.
The forecast looked good last week, but has deteriorated since. Good thing it changes.
