I missed out on a day kitesurfing earlier in the week when I did not bring my SA2 on what turned out to be a light wind day. So today I threw
everything into the car. I showed up on site and it was blowing mid 20s. I pumped up my 9M, put on my wetsuit, harness, etc together, and there was
a deflated kite. Good thing I brought along the 13 Venom.
I only tried a syn 15 once on water and it was too light of a day. This time, I thought this kite better live up to the hype Phreerider has been
pushing with the V13........It did!:wee: Rockin goodtimes!
Now I know why landboarders like jumping with Arcs. The landing is soo smooth and redirect not difficult to time right. I was riding the Mako King
in mutant mode with surf fins and H1 thruster. The board does not have pop but you can hold a solid edge, load up those lines, up to 12, bull on the
bar - launch up in the air and float. The Venom worked well carving and riding toeside as well. One thing that took a bit of getting used to was
that it wanted to autozenith. So when I was riding toeside with one hand on the bar, I had to keep my hand in the center with the CL between my
fingers. It also helped to keep the kite low like I was in the buggy. To gain speed, Arcs seem to like flying lower in the window that LEIs I have
found. Possibly due to the C shape?
I wonder what a VII is like???
I had not tried an ARC on the water because I dread having to relaunch. Never came close to hitting the water. It was great when I crashed I kept my
hands on the bar but knew how it was going to behave. Also I did not have trouble getting back to my board. I did not get yarded like I expected
either.
You need to just land it or the syn on the water and see what a non-issue the relaunch is. If the wind is still blowing and the kite didn't relaunch
by itself, just a quick yank on the centers will have you back in the air. If it needs more, you have a line to every corner of the kite, so just
give the right one a yank and it will pop open and go.

Great kites for sure. Smooth power and lift. If you get moving really fast that kite will stick to one spot when the aparent wind kicks in hard. One
of the most stable kites out there. People dont really understand jumping until they use an arc. It inspires confidence. Glad you had a good session
It can be setup as a directional or as a twintip. I had it setup as a directional with the straps setup further aft and with the surf fin and
thrusters so I could get the nice carves. The difference is the amount of stick you get in a turn. Also when riding the board backwards it is
amazing how well it cuts upwind.
I will have to try it strapless some time because it has a deck pad. I put the foot pads on because I was doing some jumps but usually I ride it with
just surf straps.
I have the H1 fins for thrusters with the surf fin in the aft and a smaller H2 up front.
Looking forward to the VII video. I may give a VII 16 a try on the water. I figure that would be like my 12 LEI according to the wind range
calculator and its projected size of 11.3 according to the ARC faq.
The need for relaunch is pretty rare for me. When it happens, relaunch is usually faster than shown in the vid.
Peter Lynn Synergy, deep water relaunch in surf
Hatteras 2011. Ocean side downwinder from Ramp 23 (Salvo) to Kite Point. Just south of Ramp 30. Head high surf. 25 knots side-on. 10m Peter Lynn
Synergy.
Kite crashes leading edge down, I pull on a steering line, the kite rolls over and folds into a "taco", I jerk on the center lines to assist the wind
in opening up the "taco" into the kites "C" shape, with the kites Auto-zenith feature and some gentle steering... the kite flies off the water.
Sorry for the fog.

Cool. Thanks. Hopefully there will be some wind tomorrow to give it a go.
I put strips of paper towel inside the Gopro and don't open it up onsite. That has taken care of the fog.
I had got the GoPro just before the trip and had the opportunity to try all the free tricks over there. None of them worked 100% of the time. I
finally broke down and bought the anti-fog strips. The only thing that has worked consistantly 100% are the strips. Unfortunately, I lost some good
footage experimenting.

Nice video with the Mako - it's weird but I love that paint job even those it's so plain! I'd buy a king but don't want to use the deckpad :D
zero gee - I made a little sheet that fits in the back door out of chamois ... I blast the case and the camera with cold air con in the car before I
get to the beach, then seal the case in the car - works perfect for me ... better than the strips.
