Hi I just wanted to know if the wheels on buggies or landboards will damage the grass on sod fields? I figured I would ask before I go ask permission to use the local sod fields as I don't want to make a promise I can't keep.

If the grass is wet or the ground soggy the wheels could damage the grass or if you are doing some aggressive slides and jumps and need to scrub speed you could also damage the grass. Controlled riding would result in less / minimal damage (but our idea of damage may differ wildly from the sod farm owner's).

We have 3 types of grass the sod farms sell here. 2 of which I wont ask to use the field,(walking across it will do damage) the 3rd is Kentucky blue grass, much more resilient.

might be better for snowkiting then? Not sure what is grown on these fields.

Is it a Compact Sod field? Most fields have a farm house which is leased out and they are supposed to keep an eye on the fields - we used to get out on one field toward Brantford in the winter but the guy on the property said he knows nothing about us if the company ever came around. They eventually did because they were pissed about other vehicles using it so he wouldn't let us on anymore.
Most sod fields do not allow people on because it'll set a precedent for other people using it.
But there are a few sod farms used by a radio control airplane club, there was a guy years ago that had a buggy that worked for Compact Sod and he would invite us on to one field when moisture wasn't n issue - so you never know.

the wife has an uncle with a farm outside of town here he would let me kite there in the winter providing it wasn't winter wheat in the field he mostly grows timothy hay for the horse farms. Need a good field for the summer though.
