Tickets
Excuse my ignorance, but this is my first time and not sure as to how it goes. My check cleared the bank so I think I pre registered correctly.
After reading most of the post here, I don’t know what to believe (LOL).
I live in Las Vegas so I’ll be driving down on the days I will be attending, Tues. 3/28, Sat. 4/1, Sun. 4/2, Mon. 4/3.
1. Am I to receive some sort of ticket or just show an ID at the gate or what? Am I to expect a ticket in the mail, pick one up at the gate? I would
hope I don’t need to get my hand stamped, gotta go to work the rest of the week and I can’t avoid washing.
2. Where do I get my T-Shirt?
3. I also want a hat.
4. Is there going to be a dunk tank, if so; I want to volunteer the Lama.
See ya there,

Hello Tigger
I suggest that you get there rather early, 5:00 to 6:00 AM as no one will
attend the gate, there is also a barbwire fence all around, not recommended
to jump over.
The only ticket you'll get is call "speed ticket" which when rolled up properly
will make a good smoke.
Also make sure of which number you are registered under, as a sign will be
issued to you, similar to the Police Dept "mug shot", to be displayed
all the time around your neck, with your name, serial number and city you are
coming from. This way, if you go too fast on your buggy, or do not
respect the stop signs, then it will be easy for all of us to identify you.
2 licence plates will also be issued under your name and number, one for
the rear of your buggy, one for the front. You have to produce your own
licence plate holder for the front. They are a pain to manufacture, and one
of the contest, named "Pimp my buggy" will give extra point for the nicest
licence plate holder.
If you do intent to buggy at night, make sure to follow the rules and regulations
about your buggy being properly lit, both front and back.
No stamp on the hand, at list not this year, but the trick is for you when
you leave the Playa, roll your "official T-shirt" in the desert dust, this way
when you show up the next day, all dusty, it will show that you have been
there already, and the officials will not bother you.
As to the "official T-shirt', you'll be lucky IF you get one, personally I got 2
last year, so I know some one, I don't even know who, was refused access
to the Playa..................... oh well.
Stop by Wind Power Sport kite shop for the complete list of rules and regulations,
about 4 pages in all.
See you there.

Tigger, thanks for asking, but this is all a big scam. In reality, the people who took over from the benevolent Fran Gramkowski, just take your
money, and squander it on drinks, and hot tubs, not to mention their helicopter expenses that are piling up(jet fuel is up!).
Expect little, get a lot. Remember, the people that will interact with you, don't get paid, since the money is already spent(see above). They are
all volunteers, and some of them(Meg Albers, Claxton Thompson) have been working for several months now to make this happen. Please be nice to them.
There will be a big white tent. You can go there and get yer stuff, but please, relax, let it flow. If you are not able to get the stuff on
tuesday, don't worry, we will not give it away. We care, and we will take care of you, just don't expect us to have a service oriented attitude.
In fact, if you'd like to find out how we achieved this fantastic attitude, volunteer! We have things that you can do(like work registration) and
it's a great way to meet everyone and get involved. You'll see things from the inside and then you will be able to say, wow, those free drinks are
really cool!
There is no ticket(we don't need no stinking tickets) we work on the honor system, so help us out, and be honerable, if you see behaviour which
reflects badly on us all, let someone know!
Have a nice dinner!

Tigger,
Last year was my first year at NABX and I can tell you, it is a bunch of wind worshipers gathering like a family reunion. In fact that is exactly
what it is, cause we are all family. There is such a great atmosphere and jokes and stories and drinking and even some buggying! I call it heaven on
earth, but some call it aoxomoxoa, whatever you call it, HAVE A BLAST!!

Thanks for the info. Lookin' forward to meeting you all. I've spent some time in the Army and know I am not suppose to do it. I agree, it will be a
good way to meet everyone. So here goes nothing; I hearby volunteer to help out in what ever way I can! If any one wants me, I'll be there on the
dates listed above, for anyone that doesn't want to scroll back there, (I will be attending, Tues. 3/28, Sat. 4/1, Sun. 4/2, Mon. 4/3).

It is a 3-4 mile drive to the nearest convenience store, they should have beer, ice, and maybe some food. There is no real grocery store in Primm, so
best to stock up if you plan to eat on the lakebed. Or you could stop by my car, I will have PJs and fruit for lunch most days and am always willing
to share! If you are staying in Primm, there are tons of great restaraunts in the resorts, but that will prolly be just for dinner. There were
porta-pottys last year at Ivanpah.... Or there is a vast desert beyond the shore for doing your business. As for condoms, you are on your own!
LOL!!

Ok, ok, ok, thanks for all the data, all my questions have been asked except one. I live here in the desert and know that the consumption of water is
of the utmost importants. It is written somewhere that man (in general, don't want to leave out the ladies) can't live by water alone or something
like that. So, should I bring beer, or is every body a T-toddler.

That brings up a good question, any standard or "tried and true" methods of lighting for buggies? I have heard you can throw a glowstick or 2 in your
kite, but what works for the buggies? Bicycle lights? Are these bright enough? How about how to attach it to the headstock?

hey sean
i use a 2 "aa" cell flashlight that i just tape to the front fork
and a flashlight that fits around my helmet. kind of looks like whats the miners use. and in the back of the buggy i use one of those flashing red
lights that are used for bikes. yes its bright enought. its not so much to see as to being seen. just some lights so you can be seen.
you wouldn`t want to have a head on crash in the middle of night.

Buggy-Brethren,
Yes, you in the dark.
Lights on your buggy in the dark.
Don't be a "dark-wad" (an unlighted person on the playa at night).
We are too low to the ground to effectively illuminate the surface.
What matters is others seeing you.
We need to know if that other buggy is coming at us or going away.
So... Red lights on the back and some other color in front.
Many of us adapt bicycle stuff to our buggies.
Not just the lights, but cyclocomputers (speedometers) too.
Lighting the kite is optional.
Often the shadow of the kite blots out the stars... Then we know!
Winds often die after sundown.
But Not Always.
Safen Up! Buggy On!
"Often wrong... Never in doubt"
