Just got a few wind alerts, The area around Chamber's bay park is seeing 7-9knts sustained. I plan to head out after work if any other locals want to take over the field:wee:

OHH FYI latest wind alert is 11knt sustained few gusts to 17, should be fun on foot holding down the 3.3!

Turned out to be a great night @ chamber's. You guy missed the fun!! 8mph when I arrived, flew about 20min and was really starting to pull, checked again and 11mph @ ground level.. I took 5min break to get feeling back in hands. Back in the air for another 25-30min, wind still up so I sat on blacktop path with heels against grass edge for extra grip. The kite started really really pulling hard, even lifted me up from ground into my feet a few times. One strong pull across the window I almost lost hold of the handles so I parked and took another reading. 18mph sustained @ ground level WOOT!!

I am definitely going to want a smaller kite for those sort of days. Flying the 3.3 static in those winds was painfull:eekdrull:

So now the hunt begins! I have a bigger kite picked out already, just have to pick it up. now looking for a small quad 1.4-2m for high wind days and to get my kids hooked while I fly the 3.3. on calmer days! :bouncy:

before you go smaller..... walk in a horizontal/perpendicular line with your kite and you will find it has little to no pull. As you noticed yes it feels like a lot when you are flying static in one position, but it is definitely not like that as soon as you take two steps 18mph.... I would of had my 12.5 depower up tee hee... but that's because I am cautious

She's right on the money though. That is/was/and always will be my most unforgettable moment kiting. That moment when you start moving with instead of fighting against the wind. All that raw energy and brute power become a peaceful dance with the wind. All chaos subsides and you're at one with this invisible force.

True true, I know on light days when the kite is luffing and folding I take to walking perpendicular away from the direction of travel to keep it filled better. Right now, buggy/atb is out of the question for quite a while. I know Todd buggied at chambers, but there have been far to many people around when I have gone to even consider it. Buggying for me would be a beach only thing which we do not do often (yet...)

Ohh and check my sig.. I am already going larger, just need to pick it up :wee: The smaller is just filling out the quiver and getting a safe rig to hook the kids too!:bigok::singing:

Just torn on something like a beamer 1.4 or go up to a "hotter" 2m?

lots of lift, zero float. Can you say up like a rocket and down like a brick....

Any small kite will not have any float, it's physically impossible, not until you get to the size that's more in agreement with your weight. Big Larry, We'll talk on Wednesday:evil:

Thanks for runin down lastnight Jeff! As always the wind did not cooperate, but I appreciate your time laying out all the kites and talking about kites, lines, harnesses etc!

Winds look to be hummin for tomorrow, hoping to head out, but have to check with fam to see how "my" schedule looks.:frog:

What a SAAWEEEET evening @ Chambers. Park was mostly empty, Why is it I don't own a buggy yet??? :Ange09:

Wind was 15-25, pretty lumpy and cycling back and forth pretty actively. I rolled out lines removed handles and installed the bar and harness. Having never flown a bar or harness I flew it unhooked for a few minutes to get a feel for it. The little 2m buster3 was screamin and turned on an edge with the big FB bar so I hooked in. WOOOOT!!

SCUUUUUD FEST! the 20+ gusts were dragging me a few feet even with the little 2m. Very glad I did not have teh 3.3 up. I got twisted sideways a few times with gusts at window edge and was glad to be on the bar as it was easy to redirect the kite. Stuffed the kite in the grass a few times and was able to relaunch backwards each time with no problem. Experimented with power lines and brake adjuster a bit. Was fun to feel the difference of adding a touch of brake with the adjuster to slow the kite down passing thru the window.

All in all a great night!!
