Silent downwinder memorial for AJ

There is a pending announcement of the official AJ memorial scheduled by his family and Kitty Hawk Kites on or about Oct 22nd at Waves Resort on Hatteras Island.

Local kiteboarding friends are getting together sooner to conduct a ‘silent’ downwinder in his honor. Plans are developing to get together this Sunday, October 2nd at Jockey's Ridge in Nags Head around 4:30. Weather forecast looks great.

In addition, we hope to celebrate a wide range of kite disciplines, include single liners and buggies along the large back ridge of the park at sunset.

Please joins us and spread word.

SilverEagle,
If you were to ask, buggies not allowed in the park. Something about better to ask forgiveness. Plan is to climb the back dune from the waterside with a buggy or two. Short, quick buggy honor regatta. Caution as the sand will be soft. Hit me up via cell and I'll put you on the phone/message tree.

Winds will be solid on Sunday from the north. If it is more NW, we'll launch from Colington Harbor Yacht Club and do a soundside run to Jockey's. If winds are North or East, we'll meet up at Sutton St. beach access in KDH, just north of the major access at Ocean Bay Blvd, for an ocean run to Kitty Hawk Kites / Jockey's Ridge. Gather at 3 pm. Single line display on Jockey's Ridge at sunset. Buggies may be tougher to gorilla if we ride ocean side.
