In which I deal with harness issues ...

My 'new' Dakine Fusion ... I bought it in February from kite-line.com - I can't get an XXL in Japan cos a. they don't stock them (fair enough) but b. they won't order one (say what?).

2010 model in bronze, very nice blah blah blah ... I save it till it's warm enough that I don't need a wetsuit so I wear it in to my body better :D

Well ... about 2 weeks back, I'm trotting along and I feel something give on the RHS - I figure the strap has slipped on the buckle so I reach down and give it a pull ... and I'm left holding the whole strap.

Don't stop riding though :D hey I got 3 other straps. When I get to shore, I see that the stitching has given way - there's only one line of cosmetic join stitching when there should be a boxed stitch! Check the internet - yep, somethings wrong!

Definite Friday job - same on the other side! The bottom stitch pattern is what there SHOULD be ...

Dakine International replied to my email very quickly but ... now they're trying to hand it over to Dakine Japan :megan: bah humbug!

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

Oh yeah so I've been using my old harness, that's been hanging out on the balcony in the sun, snow, rain and bat guano for the past six months ... it creaks and moans and is stretched but it's still holding!

"...creaks and moans and is stretched but it's still holding!" Kami I think that describes half the flyers on the forum.

Dakine is supposed to be top of the line stuff. Must've been a Friday afternoon piece as mentioned. I have a mystic seat harness myself for water play and it seems bulletproof.

sucks.

+ for solid back up. sometimes make you wonder why you buy new at all.

Dakine should make good on it.

The Fusion was one of the very few harnesses that went to XXL and Dakine one of the few companies who listed their sizes with an actual centimeter measurement :ticking: I fitted the first one easily and it didn't hurt my back so I was happy to buy another.

I'd have the same problems with Mystic or any other brand I tried to buy locally - "We don't stock that size and you're mad if you think we'd waste our time ordering one in for your fat gaijin ass" :(
Remember Ozone? 17 months I waited for the Access SB harness ... ordered it from Angus and it was here in a week

I have an OR Session II in the largest size that I can ju-uuust squueze into :o it's like a girdle though and I can't breath  still working on the diet ... maybe next summer :o

The way I see it, it's a bad job of manufacturing and Q&A direct from the factory and rather than messing around with repairs or Dakine Japan organizing something for me before 2015, just send me a new harness NOW and be done with it! :flaming:

Oh goody I fit the OR harness much better now! Yay the diet!

The Session offers me so many more options that the Fusion ... flab over or under the spreader bar pad

Ok between the fuel pump (6 weeks, still not in the post), the bearings (2 weeks) and this I'm really starting to lose my cool ...

First email was sent Sep 28, got a request for pics etc the next day, I replied with all the details they wanted 3 days later on the 2nd of October and it's now the 15th ... winter swiftly approaching, holidays planned and I'm relying on a 3 year old harness that's falling to pieces :ticking:

Should have updated sooner - sent my old one harness off to the Dakine rep in Japan and got the replacement a few days after that from Hawaii ... 2011 in green. Much better fit than the 2010 so that's nice too.

Also got the fuel pump in the bike but now there are other problems :flaming: seems they've tweaked something and it's messed up the fuelling in certain conditions.

Bearing arrived last week too and are the mutt's nuts!
