Mood: pray for wind

Carving or linking

Had a great day at York yesterday afternoon. Wind kept building and had to move down from the pansh flux 6:0 to tensor 3:1. Lots of long runs up and down beach. My question is I ride heelside all the time just reverse direction of board, can and how do I carve turns and ride toeside one way, linking turns and making the ride more fluid like a snowboard. Where do the handles go? What about crossed lines etc.

I'm hooked big time. Its pouring, wish you could kite in the rain.

Thanks
Craig

Craig,
I would really recommend the progression beginner landboarding video- has excellent examples of what to do and how along with common mistakes. key for me is powerslide to toeside then carve turn back (but usually eat it at this time more practice required). most of my transitions now are powerslide staying on heelside and redirecting kite or small transition jumps. It only gets better padded shorts highly recommended to protect the hips

currently editing a vid with some sequence flow you're looking for,, and its on an ARC.

couple days for the vid.

alot of what you asking is related to speed control and ON TOP board balance. and of course kite control. letting it ( kite and board) run, and timing are key elements.

i will admitt a mountain of time and practice to put it together back whenever i was learning this combination few years back.

THE absolute secret here for me was SLOW and balanced. too much air and misery at every turn. pulled over in 20mph is not what you want. steady light air is best to start. really fun once get it wired

gonna X post this but thought i would drop them here first

this session was multi-framed and is very light air, kite action, rider action with good flow for turns to toeside and back. really can see the "follow the kite with the board" .

and typical other stuff ...have to emphasize the light air , its true apparent wind riding so theres not alot of power passing the kite thru the top of window for airs, hence the CONTINUOUS movement of rider and/or kite, so thats why you can see the kite alot its deep in the window cause thats where the power is in apparent wind rides. its all about flow and feedback from the small net of power in the system.
