trade going bad with PKF member

ok short simple

I traded with borntofli, i paid 350 for EH 11m ovando 2010.

i receive it and the kite won't pump, it needs repairs.

i want to send it back to him so he can repair it and prepare it proper for sell. and for him to return the funds minus the shipping.

i expected a kite ready to go , NOT ONE THAT HAS TO BE REPAIRED FIRST. (disappointed and now just pissed)

he got what he expected.

now he has yet to return recent emails to complete this.

borntofli...you need to step up and own this.

opportunity is here

Whoa, I guess he meant it when he wrote, "They are not one pump kites".

Seemngly it should have read, "They are not one pump kites but pump and pump and pump and pump kites." :Ange09:

Not trying to make light of your situation but couldn't resist when I went back and read the ad and saw that.

Hope you get it all worked out soon.

ug, that sucks...
$350 is pretty crazy cheap for a 2010 kite but that's no excuse for omitting that it needs repair!
hope he remedies the situation.

I got a 15m Speed2 off him a while back.. he said "no issues of any kind."

All the pulleys were toast and the fly lines were finished, one was almost worn through.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt but It looks like he is making a habit out of it..

tri, THANKS

but i got gear, just personally did a 12m c and the 13m FUEL i got from u back whenever both 05, full resurrection on both units. did a video with one... Phlight pleasure.

in total reattached 14 valves with 3M 5200 and 5 had the old ball stops, which still work great .

the only thing i had to buy was the 5200 , used all the old valves and harvested my own patches

plus ! this fresh 9m EXA III with ultra short bridle Hybrid C by SK ... BLACK WITH A BIG AZZZ GOLDEN STAR ON IT. no joke.

KD , i;m currently in the bonus feature of the deal..."something you don't expect"- part.

Mood: Can\'t get enough kiting

[*] posted on 22-10-2011 at 03:09 PM

I have offered many fair solutions to resolve this...

Send him a new strut valve..
Send him money to fix..
ship the kite to me and i will fix and send it back...

He was unreasonable on all these....I have replaced a few valves on both ovandos, they come unstuck....I could see a return if something major was wrong, but 1 satrut valve... Come on....

As for the speed 2..... I had just replaced the pulley lines, and the pulleys roll when you pull the line thru....Theres no way the flying lines were worn, they were still stiff and ln very good condition.. maybe he meant the chicken loop line, but I replace those all the time as I seem to be hard on them.......

Sorry to all I have "wronged"... I will not burden you with my presence here anymore....

This is a great site...... happy riding all.....

unreasonable was meet by sending me a kite that needs repair.

as the buyer i am unwilling to accept a kite that needs repair.

if repairing the kite FIRST was a prerequisite things would have been different in the transaction.

i know your intent was not to send a kite in need of repair, but the email reply comment "EH has #@%$#! valves" worked about as well as the kite.

i 'm sure the unit is a nice fly, but i am unwilling to accept a kite that needs repair. and by ME repairing it(by whatever means) demonstrates acceptance of LESS than what we bargained.

and yes a tube kite that won't pump is a deal breaker. the kites i buy that won't pump are like $50.

there you go.

Dave,

that pulley and flying line have seen there better dayz............was that flying line on the ELC at the mixer? You probably know this but just in case sailkote on pulleys, ELC conncetions. ring lines, depower line, and mixers will extend their life expectancy.........................be careful with the EH valve caps, Ive ripped two of mine (strut and deflate).....easy repair to replace and will do them all by next spring. Dont let this put you off, the Ovandos great low end, huge amount of power for their size (11 EH has the grunt of power of a 13m Slingshot), fast turning/short throw just like a C kite........great upwind and for boosting...............never really got her out on the waves after the diagnosis last February...................will def get out on her this year!

That line is the FLS line on the bar side. Horrible design by Flysurfer.
I got Powerzone to make me up a FDS bridle and rigged up a 5th..Way better

The worst two pulleys had about 5mm of play.. I replaced them right away
The other four seemed good enough but shredded the one pulley line a few weeks back

Got the 4 new pulleys in the mail today... Now the fun begins

The kite is awesome and worth the trouble.

Dave - there's an easy trick to putting pulleys on ... I can't remember where I saw it - pretty sure it's FredBGG at foilzone - but he posted a video with the technique to get them on with less fuss. At least, that's what I remember

Thanks I will look into that. I think I will have it finished without any trouble. Just need some
quiet time with it. The mixer test and getting her tuned just right is what has me worried.. Worst
case I send her to Powerzone to get her tuned up right.. The Rip is great by the way, low end close
to my door but it feels small for a bigger board..

Yeah, the smaller flat boards do pretty well ... between my Flydoor XL and the Flyradical L there's probably 4 or 5 knots difference on the bottom end of riding and having big fun. Just riding around, they're very close ... but I have to work the kite more :D Basically, if I can get on a plane with the 'door, I can park the kite.
The Rip has a more curved outline than the 'radical too ... sprayed me in the face less

I'll hunt down that video when I get the chance ...

just had to revisit this ...actually getting around to repairing this unit .

the disappointment has grown, out of 5 struts on this unit only ONE holds air.

the LE is satisfactory after about 30min.

one more time.... OUT OF 5 struts ONLY ONE ! holds air

me wanting to return this kite (to you) immediately was and is NOT UNREASONABLE for anyone of character.

so i will be posting updates and repairs outcomes on this thread, since its got real traction! {1120 views!}

i will repair this unit myself with the existing valves blah, blah blah..., and enjoy the benefits of its design, and drag along the sad component because ....it has them, for all to learn from... even me. perhaps WHEN THE KITE IS ACTUALLY FLIGHT READY....like all things in life I may let it go, but unfortunately the karma train won't miss a stop!

that said on to the repairs
