I think I need a bigger kite?
Hi Guys,
Trying to figure out if I will need a larger kite to landboard. My board is on its way (mbs comp 16 pro). Right now I have a Ozone 2.5m Quattro and a
Peter Lynn 3m Hornet. I'm a big guy at 250lbs I'll be trying to learn at Nahant beach when possible. Will I need a bigger kite right away or should I
wait? Also what size kite should I be thinking about?
Thanks for any advice, Mark

Mark,
what are the avg speed winds you fly in at Nahant and your local.................not knowing your avg wind speed though based on your current kites Id
say def yes to a larger kite 5/8 meter (fixed bridal) 12/14m bridal depower (open/closed cell) or a 16 to 19m Arc (if your ready for
depower)..........................

Do you think a Little Devil 7.5m would be good to Landboard with? I have never flown anything larger then a 4.0m. Should I be able to handle this in
say 10-15 mph winds? How much more pull will it have then the 4.0m?

Some might disagree but I'd say learn with your smaller kite with the landboard first before even THINKING of another kite. Better to understand how
the two work together and gain some some experience before getting bigger kite.
I'm 200 pounds and also kite landboard at Nahant. Just started kiting this year but here is my (limited) experience:
Use my 5.0 meter in winds 10 to 15 mph
Use my 3.0 meter in winds 15 to 25 mph
Plenty of power for me with those size kites in those wind ranges. At 250 lbs you might be fine with a 5.0 meter after you gain some experience but
be very careful on those high wind days.
Anything below 10 mph or above 25 mph means I stay home. No fun below 10 mph and to dangerous (for me) over 25 mph.
PS - I also just picked up a 2011 Ozone 10.0 meter depower kite for winter/inland kiting but I haven't had chance to use it yet. Hopefully this
weekend....see you at Nahant!!

The 7.5 LD may be too much for 10 - 15 if the wind isn't clean?

Hey guys,
How about a Peter Lynn Twister 5.6m? How much is it worth in good condition? Would it be good for 10-15 mph wind days for landboarding? I intend to
use a smaller kite to learn with. I live inland and on the low wind days would this kite be good?
