Century Club

It has been said the definition of insanity is the act of repeating the same activity over and over and expecting different results... Im crazy

a while back i tried out the Hundred Push-up challenge, and almost made it... well i took a little different path this time and made it! W00t!

I think the reason i like the 100 count idea, is cuz im just odd... I LOVE "century set" days during my lifting cycles (100 reps basically), i really enjoyed the 100 push up challenge too... so i said lets try something i suck at instead of something im actually pretty good at to begin with. Im a lifter by nature, so the pushups and weight gain... im good at lol, i'm not a cardio guy...

so i said i'm going run 100 miles... not at once, not yet.... im not as hardcore as some of you crazy runners here on the pkf...

So here it is... im running 30-45 minutes at lunch when my schedule allows... im so out of shape right now im only averaging 3.5 miles per run... but to me its ok... i'm looking at my diet and some other factors, actually trying to change for good, and not a month long "bust my a$$" workout (which i usually do). I did the Insanity workout a few months back, and had great results... but it tore up my ankle something fierce, and was out for several weeks, and fell out of the routine

so i took the manditory before pic... and after 100 miles im going to see how i change...

Now... motivation!

100 reps in the gym, cakes
100 pushups, little harder, still doable
100 miles... gonna take some effort!

12.5 miles so far :spin:

Good luck on this. Back in the early 80's when I was young and dumb I was in the Navy. And when I got out I said I will not run without a large carnavor chasing me, nor will I shave or cut my hair. I do my best to not run, and I have cut my hair I think about 5 times. But I have not shaved(trimmed it a few times)
I hope this running thing gets you to where you want to go. And it will be cool to follow you progress. But I think I'll do it in a car behind you. Now please don't take my lack lusterness offend you. I do hope you do great on this and enjoy every minute of it. And maybe you will start a following like the push-up challange.
And always remember.. I am fluent in sarcasm. Thanks for sharing and I WILL be following your progress.

Id like to complete that leadville race at some point... But man that looks brutal! In the spring ill start running at the charity events.... United way, red cross, etc...

I walked one last year, and ended up running most of it, and had a pretty good time.

My knees are killing me, so ill prolly skip the run today, maybe just walk

Always adding more hobbies

Those are really great goals. And you have chosen good charities to support. Is there a Sponsership for those?

I lived in Leadville for 10 years and the racers used to run past my house on the way to the finish, if you had seen what I have seen you might change your mind. Guys stagering in the street not knowning where they are, in pain and miserable, it seems to storm every year. I know a few guys that have run it and they are not right, but that can be common in leadville. I think you are crazy but more power to you. If you ever make it out here I will buy you a beer, or mybe a sports drink if that suits you better. Good luck.
