The problem:

Ring lines on HQ Apex (and others I'm sure) wear at the metal rings that the "ring" lines pass through at the wing tips, causing replacement eventually of those lines.

The Mod (or one possible solution)

Disclaimer: This is actually a mod of a mod that was brought to me on a kite I was checking out, I just altered what another PKF member had started

Using stainless "key rings", in this case 3/4" I attached a Ronstan micro kite block and took a piece of 14g wire insulation to cover the sharp ends of the keyring. Done

Super easy and under $10 for both sides!

Am I understanding correctly that HQ actually use split-rings for the wing-tips? That just seems wrong. Very springs that sold/welded rings aren't used.

actually they are solid rings, but they do wear on the lines eventually
