Kayak kite

I want to aquire a kite to sail my kayak in winds from 8 to whatever I can control. It does not need to be powerful but more controlable. I have no experience with kites so a beginner kite is what I think I need but I want something I can launch from the water and handle by myself. But I want something that will tack like a sailboat. I live in north eastern NC and have a zillion places and conditions around here to use the kite. I weigh 205 and do not want to fly only be pulled around. What do I need?:wee:

a powerkite will just drag you sideways or flip ya. however a "delta sled " would be for you . Here is one http://www.cobrakite.com/foilsled.html . Look for one w/ an adjustable bridle to make the kite pull one way or the other. You would benefit by throwing a drogue anchor out behind you to keep you straight. Hope this helps

West Marine sells an addon for kayaks which is a small, pop-up type sail that attaches to the front of the #@%$#!pit. It presumably comes with instructions, etc., but I didn't have the cash, so I didn't look too hard. I think it was around $75.00?

I just saw one online called the rapid-up kayak sail kit. It was $98.00.

I have been kayaking for 3 years now and would say before you get a kite look into installing a rudder on the boat.

Or this will work well. http://www.kayaksailor.com/

The Kayak Kite thing can be done but isn't easy. I am adding these to a few of the tandem kayaks I rent out next summer for sailing. After talking to a few people about the best and most versatile set up I ended up at kayak sailor.
