Where do you get buggy parts

Hello all,

I am new to the forum and to powerkiting. I have been flying with my kids and we would like to build a buggy.

Have the basic idea in my head, but I need to know where to get wheels, tires, etc.

What are the best sites, shops for parts?

Thanks

look for any local shops or....
any steel supplier has steel, any kite shop can get you tires and wheels, any hardware store has the bolts and etc. Buggybags.com, or Van here on the forum, for the seat and siderail covers. plans are at http://popeyethewelder.piczo.com/?g=33349545
anything else?

Appex buggy, Libre hardcore buggies.
Flexboardz. Blokarts.
PKD Century Soulflys. NPW's. Nasa Stars.
A few other less flown oddballs,
Line sets from 10" to 328" or 2m to 100m.
worlds only AQR that works.
North American distributor for PKD.

Making a buggy is a labour of love.

To do it right you should expect to spend as much as it will cost you to buy a quality used buggy.

I PROMISE YOU you will not build a buggy of the quality of Todd's Ivanpah on sale here for only $700 .

$1200 new without the extras.

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

absolutely true ,the amount of time I have in one of my buggies would more than pay for a production model. But I like riding on a one off piece of art that I built. :)

I have been thinking about the time vs money comparison. I really want to do it as a project with my boys. Where I live there are few kites and no kite shops. Randy from this forum has extended his helping hand with information.

I am comfortable working with mild or stainless and after looking through Popeyes videos I am comfortable with the build. Just a little concerned with getting quality parts. I also don't have a good connection for stainless anymore.

I am going to reach out to Randy, but I am not 100% convinced I am going to build vs buy yet.

Thanks for the information. This forum has been great.

If you need pointers, there are many on here including myself would be more than happy to help. It is a labor of love to build these things. Lots of time cutting , grinding, welding, cutting it back up and reweld until you have something you are proud to put your name on.

If you can't find any metals locally, http://www.onlinemetalstore.com is the place I go to for pieces that I can't get locally. There prices are reasonable compare to other's I've purchased from.

Thanks for the link. I think I am going to watch the forum and purchase a used buggy. Get the feel for what I want and then make one. I have become very familiar with Popeyes site and buggies as well as the apexx buggies.

First - thank you Popeye for all the information you have shared.
Second - I am not sure it would be wise to build a buggy without riding in one first.
Third - the camo Ivan is cool but I need a lighter buggy to transport, breakdown, and store.
Finally - The boys are anxious to get on the ground now and Randy did not help by letting them ride his. LOL!!!

Thanks

All very valid points .

I know of at least 2 people who have all the skills + tools to make a buggy . Both sre perfectionists and decided it is best to start with a proven buggy and use their skills to make it personal.

I am thinking buy the buggy but build a tandem ride. Great project for the family ?

Tandem is a great idea!!!

I pitched the NABX trip to my wonderful wife and got the are you crazy look. She doesn't like Vegas in the first place and is already questioning my sanity on the kites. Maybe I will leverage the kids and spending time with them arguement.

Goal: Get her there anyway and find a way to get a kite in her hands. Hehehehehe!!!

I have the same problem....but I have an 11hr flight on top to convince her that a kiting trip is a good idea....this year was mean to be a one off.....but its gonna happen one last time.

Ps I also convinced her a Dubai desert trip to buggy with the Sand Yeti was a good idea too.......just keep working on it
