HQ's Montana 7

The 2012 line-up of Montana's kind of snuck-up on me. Didn't even know they were out already. Any intel on them compared to last year. I see they have changed the sizes and now include a 14 meter. 14m a light wind machine or just a heavy riders size?

The word I got from the top was that the bridles were diminished since last year. Not sure if that's the only changes or not. That 14m would be a powerhouse for heavy riders in light wind. It would have the torque to muscle through soft snow and pull you up a slope for sure. I'll trade up to M VIIs in the next month or so. I love the MVIs and told Chris I couldn't imagine how they could be improved upon since they are fast, fast turning, and stable. The lessened bridles should improve the speed further. I'll post up whenever I have some experience with the new ones.

I enjoyed passing Peter Lynn (himself) and everyone else flying depower foils at Dead Bird Buggy Bash while on the M7 12m during an impromptu circuit ride one afternoon. It has a solid, direct feel with fast acceleration coming out of a turn. There is noticeable improvement in the 12m size (vs the M6). It turned a lot of heads at the event. Quite possibly the best open cell foil on the market today.

I am considering a 14 meter to go with my other two Frenzys since I do not have anything depower for light wind. Want to stay with open cell and thought that this might fit the bill.
220lbs+gear.

Wow, HQ is all grown up now. The Montanas have gotten better and better with each version. Can't wait to try out the one that passed Peter Lynn. I've heard stories about him not being convinced he was the better pilot until he could switch kites with you and beat you with BOTH kites............. going backwards. So to say he is competitive (and highly skilled) is quite the understatement. Also a sound sleeper I hear.
