Bigfoot tires: "gettin' their groove on?"
I saw a Euro buggy dealer site where they offer to cut grooves into a bigfoot for you at reasonable cost.
Is this recommended for the tire (esp. one that's not new)?
Anyone try/use it?
It's be nice to have a little more edging ability.

I have heard of some people doing this, I think Ellis use to do this for some people. I am not sure if they used the normal Big Foot tires though.
Seems to me that these tires are quite thin in the tread area so any grooving would have to be seriously shallow or it would effect the longevity of
the tires. I don't think standard big foots have more than 1/4" of overall thickness in the tread/surface of the tire to groove (maybe even less than
that).
With such a minimal groove area, I don't think it would really do much for you & grip. If you could put some deeper grooves in some other brand
tires that would allow for it, it may be a benefit.
Again, someone else may have more info on this. I personally have never done it or seen it done so can't really say.

For riding on sand, IMHO grooves would add some traction. Now that I'm used to having the super traction of riding on the lakebed, I feel I'd want
grooved tires if I someday find myself riding on hard packed sand again. The 6.5 wide barrows might do the trick but some kind of BFL, eurotrax, or
beach racers with grooves might be necessary for soft sand issues.

Beach Racers come with grooves already
Eurotrax as well
Duro comes without grooves but you can do them yourself, but the Duro is a bit lighter than the EuroTrax.
