Kayak sailing

does anyone know of more products like this?
http://topkayaker.net/topkayakershop/index.php?main_page=ind...

I really want to work out a decent sailing rig for a kayak, but I'd REALLY prefer not to break the bank.

Can someone shine some light on Kayak sailing please?

get the one with the outriggers!, very tidy set up . good control, easy speed with good range. i see a guy sporting his several times a year mostly seabreeze round 10-15mph. in the same category with prep and haul a wind surfer. fun, safe access to travel for sure.

an NPW on short lines with just a Kayak is super simple and effective as well

Click thumbnails to open fullsize in new browser window

Advanced Elements Rapid Up Kayak Sail Kit: $97

CastleCraft Kayak Sail Rig: $799

Balogh Sail Designs: $$$!!!! Including the link, but don't click through unless you want to ogle/lust over spendy items.

Hobie Mirage Sail Kit: $349

Compatible all current Hobie Mirage boats and markets as the perfect companion for the Hobie MirageDrive. Not sure what you have for a kayak, but it might still be compatible. Would have to confirm.

Easyrider Systems : Price dependent on configuration
Airfoil Sail Rigs for Kayaks
Reaching Spinnaker for Kayaks
Downwind Spinnaker for Kayaks

Downwind only sails are much cheaper than a full-blown kit.

Sled type kites can also be used for downwind only sailing.

I have to think an NPW straight off the bridles will do the job as long as you don't expect to get upwind !

Seems so obvious? Anybody ever try it?

Straight off the bridle lines I could see visibilty problems. A lot of the downwind sails have mylar panels.

Short lines seem to work fine.

yeah I want full on sailing so downwind only is out.
kiteboating just seems like a hassle (unless you have a catamaran)

looks like unless I wanna build it myself its gonna cost some bones.
I want somethin that goes up when it blows, and I can throw down when it stops.

Do you have a kayak already or will you be getting that too? Check out this site: http://smalltrimarans.com/blog/ you might get some ideas from there. Some pretty clever sailing rigs and amas that, depending on your kayak, may work for you.

Here's another small, pop-up style sail called the Windpaddle, that claims and shows in the vid to be able to go to the weather.
