buggy questions

So I have been working on a bug and it is going good haven't had a chance to work on it in almost a week but the back axle is together 1/8 wall square all of the fork prices are cut out and almost ready to weld together but I have a few tech questions
On the downtube I plan on using two prices of 1"1/4 1/8 wall square stacked on top of eachother welded at boath ends and stiches in the middle my question is will it be strong enough in the twisting moment
I am running middi type wheels and tires
My next query is I plan on frestyling this bug which will look much like vans cricket would it be better for me to lower the seat and shorten the distance from the backrest to the rear axle which is only 48" wide I am trying to stay small and light but I do weigh 290 and stand 6'2" all input is welcome no pics I don't have a computer I can do that with right now
To recap it should look something like a frestyle bug and a vtt cricket bug mixed up

I'm almost your weight and the stronger you can make it the better. Also the wider the stance the better as well. I've been known to flip even wide axle buggies. Feel free to call me if you want to discuss some. Number is on my page.

any reason you are using two piece instead of a single piece of 1.5 x 2x 1/8 tubing? that is what i use on the cricket.

It is what I had laying around
Trying to recycle as much metal as I can before buying any new so far the scrap heap has provided and the only thing I have bought is axle bolts and nuts I am planning to use a vtt cricket seat from vtt bugies
