Buggin' Out 3/6/2012

Finally, a day off and some wind in the forecast. NOAA said 24-26 with gusts to 33 so I packed up the car can headed to the soccer park.

Got to the park and set up the wind sock, buggy, and a Viper 2.6 just to get the feel for the wind. Put on the trusty brace for the knee and the helmet, launched, and off I went.

The best runs in the park are N-S runs and the wind was coming out of the ESE so not too bad for direction. Hit a few really nice downwind runs and not much trouble upwind. So far this session was shaping up to be an awesome sesh!

As I rode more, the wind did its usual shifting from ESE to ENE so still gravy. I decided it was time to work on some basic freestyle skills. Had the kite in the power, added a touch of brake tension to slow it down a bit so I got a bit more side pull, flicked the front wheel toward the kite and back out and what do you know? Two wheel action! Granted I was not doing full field length two wheel rides, only for 3-4 seconds at a time but hey, it's progress!

Sheska was there snapping a few stills with my phone and got a few nice shots. Nothing on 2 wheels though  There WILL be some 2 wheel photos coming, I assure you.

Got a few nice power slides, and really focused on just basic skills as it has been some time since I have had weather like this to ride.

The wind decided that a constant 20+ was too good for us so it eventually dropped to 5-15 gusting 33 so thats when we packed up and went home.

Nice 2 hour sesh overall.

Had fun? Check!
Learn something? Check!
Came home safe? Check!

Epic...

This is about half the park, other half has too many obstacles for my taste at the moment.

Just past here is where the obstacles live.

Setting up to power slide back to a down wind run.

Ahhhh!!! He's coming right at us!!!

Does this qualify as a pink skirt?

Nice session! I envy your weather at the moment, 6 inches of snow here a few days ago and now day time temps around 50 F. It's gonna get muddy. I can relate to the soccer field obstacles though.

Thanks Rich! I'm still riding the stoke of getting up on 2 intentionally! It truly is as easy as everyone says (with a little coaching from Bartiebat)

Once I get 2 wheeling down a bit better, I'm going to work on backwards riding :wee::wee::wee:
