My custom handles
So I would like some constructive criticism on my attempt to make some handles.I know the Amsteel is over kill but it's what I had.My strop will
attach on top through the loop.Cam cleats on the bottom for brake adjustment.

Those look the business! :bigok:
(wouldn't want to take one to the back of the head though)
I dig the cam cleat idea for on the fly tuning- is there a way to secure the line in the cam cleat when you find the right setting?

You adjust it for each kite. The leader slides down into a deep-v that bites it. My PKD handles are like that.
Those look like they will do well w/ a medium size foil.

I could not get the picture very big so fine details were a bit hard to see. From what I can see they do look nice.
A couple suggestions I have is
#1 round off the knife edge you have on the top. Your design looks cool but man that could hurt
#2 more grip tape down the rest of the handle. You do not need to cover the whole thing but for those who harness in they will not be grabbing the
very top like a static flyer would.
Other than that they look pretty good.
FYI Screwyfits made some custom handles a few years ago. He wanted some input on them so he started a pass the handle thread to get more opinions when
people had a chance to fly them. Those are still MIA. So if you decide to do something like that make sure you know who they are going to so yours do
not go missing too

my PKD handles have the clam cleat on the other side (closest to the kite),not passing thru the handle.

I needed a break from building my buggy so built these. I've seen plenty, took what I liked & came up with these.I do mostly static unless we have
snow than I Kite ski, that is why the top of the handles are the way they are.Where the lines go through the bar I have a 1/2" solid piece of stock
welded in with a hole in that so I could put a good bevel around hole to stop chaffing.
Good idea with grip down farther, that will be changed.
Thanks for your comments

Might wanna be sure to use a really good knot for your lines on the amsteel. Amsteel has a tendency to slip quite easily, a simple overhand knot will
slip eventually, ymmv. I would use a lanyard knot or a diamond knot, the latter looks cooler and will hold. I would also melt the tag end back into
the knot once you know for sure that they are even, that way they can't slip no matter what. Nice handles btw!
