2nd World Record Attempt
Went out to Ivanpah with some friends today to try to break the record again. They were calling for rain in the morning but it tidn't show up till
around 4. The winds were light and multi directional at first. Then it started to pick up. It eventually became sustained at around 25-30.
So I went out an started my runs. My first couple runs were a little slow. Hit arund 56mph. Came back to camp and made some adjustments. Then went
back out. The winds were starting to luff out with an occasional good gust. I was on what wound up being my last run and hit a good gust. I was only
able to get to 76mph before I sheared my left axle bolt. I slid for about 100' before stopping. No harm done though. The buggy is heavy enough it
didn't roll. Didn't break the record but I know have my camera angles dialed in. It started to rain as we packed up so no chance to ride again for
atleast a few days.

Still 76 is impressive to say the least. Vapor again? Same size?

Glad you didn't crash. Loosing a wheel at 76 must be quite a rush. Good job trying again and dood luck on the next outing.

I've always been afraid of losing a wheel. Lost a wheel on the beach least year at 35 with the vapor 16 and I barely knew, except that my wheel
rolled past me, I stopped, and the kite just wanted to dig the buggy in the ground.
Glad you didn't roll and lose any meat! That sandpaper surface is crazy.
The downwind bolt sheered?

Yea it was the downwind bolt that sheered. I have some cool video. Trying to sort through it all. Its cool having 5 camera angles but now I'm in deep.
Sorting through all the weeds takes a lot of time.
@redsky...yes only 76. Then again, 76mph is plenty fast when you lose a wheel. :bouncing:

I lost a wheel at 52mph. 76mph could have been a whole new world of pain on a dry lake.
Balls of steel dude. Can't wait for the vid.
I'd love to have a go in that speed bird sometime.
