Buggy Boogie Thang - Sprang

Howdy,

Just a reminder...

The annual "Buggy Boogie Thang - Sprang" is a'comin'.

The weekend AFTER Memorial Day.
(hopefully most of the motorbikers will be used up from the big weekend)
El Mirage Dry Lake, near Victorville, California.

Friday the 2nd of June through Sunday the 4th.

Dooley's Reef at Walt's Cove. (Far end of the lakebed, across from Sailor's Bay, on the right)

For more than 10 years, buggiers have been gathering to celebrate the wind and our friendships.

I hope YOU can join us.

Directions would be nice.

What is a Dooley, and who is Walt?

Tigger,
Directions are a tricky subject.
Before, giving directions on the internet, I found folks driving out into the middle of the Mojave with only a scap of paper with those direction written on it.

My first suggestion is to buy a good map of the area.

El Mirage is between Victorville and Palmdale in California.
Closer to Victorville.

Dooley (lack-o-slack) is a buggier from So Cal, usually the first to arrive, and the spot he camps at has become known to us as Dooley's Reef.
It is in a spot called Walt's Cove, where the buggiers typically camp.

Walt's Cove is identified on the BLM hand-out for El Mirage (elmer's).
It's about 4 miles down the lakebed, across from Sailors Cove, next to the pucker bumps we like to run.

More detailed directions can be found at the Wind Wizard's site:
www.windwizard.com

Come prepared.

What's a "Dooley"?

Sheesh, Tigger... "What's a Dooley?"

That's a very good question. I've been asking it for 53 years, now.

If you get an answer, please let me in on it. I would sleep SO much better!

I asked for directions, I got directions. This forum is the greatest. Only question now is, will my wife let me have the time off. I think asking for and receiving directions to the Holy Grail would be easier.

Tigger asks: What is a Dooley, and who is Walt?

Dooley will have to answer your question about 'What is a Dooley!' In all the years I've known Dooley I have yet to figure that out!!

The story of Walts Cove is one best shared at the lakebed around the campfire after a good day of buggying.. Any of us that were there at the first Sprang Thang can share that one..
