Kite type and size vs power

I try to get approximate idea of equal power between different types of kites ....

That is what I come up with .....:

We get same power from :

4m FB race kite
5m FB kite
9m de-power open cell foil
10m close cell foil
11m C kite LEI
12m bow/ delta LEI
16m Arc

So ..... where I need to make changes to get it right .....

any suggestions ???

Not that easy. For me, I start having fun on my 15m Syn about the same time as guys start having fun on 12m bows. Still having fun on the 15 when they drop down to 9m bows. The 15m Syn low end is similar to 15m C-LEI's.

I know is not easy ....... and comparing de-power with FB is close to impossible .... de-power on different kites have different range ..... so let say middle of range on de-power is the case ....

the best way i have found to cross the type/power is projected area(PA).

this is best coupled with your weight. roughly 10kg of body/1m sq. of PA. for powered action. a more skilled flier as low as .8m sq. PA ,and a beginner as high as 1.2m sq. PA.

any way , interesting you place a 4m FB to equal a 16m arc ?

PA of v16 i/ii is over 11m PA (which is equal to a 15/14m tube) ...also arcs after Vii are less efficient...for example a 19M charger has only about 11m PA. so the series is sensitive to their respective PA a general grouping would off by some measure.

this formula is 10kg/1m sq.PA is a reasonable approximation for WATER up to about 20mph+/-, but applies to helps equalize things...and as the air speed increases by 25% the PA should drop roughly at the same rate. skill and knowledge reduce to power requirement in general. land based stuff is more variable due to surface, weight and pilot skill. land based application is by far less and requires pilot discernment for unit of choice due to huge apparent wind production.

I concure with rip ,5m viper beginner race, 7m apex open depower, 10m scorp arc, all very similar lift and pull.
What qualifies as a closed cell foil , ? flysurfer's , neo's ?

Thinking back to runs on the lakebed, I've been slightly underpowered with my then 5.5 Reactor II advanced fb foil while Wexler has been better powered on his 9.5 Montana open cell depower foil. This is so variable, I'm not sure you can ever really nail it down. Add in 5-7 mph of wind and the ratio would change again.
