*VIDEO* 2-line NPW

I was inspired by John Holgate's video's of his Born-kite NASA Star 2 kites, flown as 2-line kites on a bar. Well, his version is a 3-line, the 3rd being for depowering the kite. Anyway, I hooked up my 4.8M NPW5 (HQ) as a 2-line on a bar I got from powerzone. The bar is old skool, with a bowline for a chickenloop, the bight is covered with poly tubing, as is the free end, which is used as the 'chicken finger'. I was quite surprised at how well it worked, and once I was used to it, how easy it was to ride like that. Here's some vid of the fun, the wind was NE at 15-20, I was riding the back parking lot at the fairgrounds.

Looks good, Bob. I find that I'm much more comfortable steering with one hand if I'm using a bar. I seem to sit straighter - facing forwards - in the buggy too compared to handles. It's nice to have options!

@ herc. John has a few video's showing how his NASA Star 2 center line is hooked up. I'm just flying 2 line, power and brake bridles together on each side.

@ John, Definitely a more comfy ride, one handed rocks! I think I'll be using this set-up with all my NASA wings!

Bob, it looks like you were having a great session!

My favorite spot in Atlanta is to ride the back parking lot at the fairgrounds too, HA!!!

I'm not too familiar with NASA wings, so forgive my questions, but why is it that I always see them on such short lines as compared to FB foils or depower kites? Don't you get more power from having a bigger wind window to work in? What is it about NASA wings that you like over t foil kites?

just curious.

I'm going to take a nap now

I am usually on short lines due to circumstance. The beach I ride most is not very wide, and has many sign posts, as well as trees in the dunes, so most of the linesets I have made up for the NASA wings are short. I'm not sure I prefer the NASA wing over a foil, I just have more of them, as they are less expensive to buy. My first handle controlled kite was my 4.8M NPW5, so I got used to how they fly right off the bat. I guess I just go to them now mostly because I know what to expect from them. Both the Beamers (1.4M & 2M) and the 2M Toxic, I have been using with 17.5M Vector lines, but haven't had the right winds for them at the right spot. I am really looking forward to getting to ride with the Toxic at the beach, with some smooth wind.
