Apologies if this has been posted before, but this is an awesome site that lets you zoom in from the size of the observable universe to unbelievably
itty bitty stuff! Check it out:
Love things like this, it really puts everything into perspective. Reminds me of the sidewalk in front of the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. They
have signposts along the road for the locations of each planet to scale- so you can "walk" through the solar system. It's really fascinating.
One of the things I love about kiting (and sailing) is how connected I feel with the greater world around me
We understand all that is not mathematics through the world, but we understand the world through mathematics

The Boston Science Museum has done something similar but markers are scattered throughout the city and as far out as Newton.

It truly gives you the recognition of how infinitesimally puny we are in the grand scheme, and yet we feel like we are in control of so much.
We're like chihuahua's in the grand scheme of galactic presence
So small, so confident, so certain of our greatness, and yet we really only have control over things like where we decide to take a whiz... or whether
or not we'll listen and obey.
