Buggy run on Google maps from Recon GPS goggles
Ok, the geek in me is about to blow a fuse. The goggles were nice to wear, with a wide field of view. They are the photochromic lenses and they did
a good job at cutting glare and brightness. It was so so nice to be able to glance down in the corner of the goggles any time I wanted to see my
current speed. I just can't divert my attention enough to glance at the downtube mounted gps very much when going fast.
Loading the run into the software and then sharing it was so easy and worked the first time like you would hope it would. I will do better in the
future with the titles and location as I figure it out.
Nothing much exciting after the first run unless you just want to follow along to satisfy the geek in you. I was surprised at the speed because the
winds were very light and I wanted to put in time on the Vapor 4.5m. This speedy run was right after pulling away from the parking area and I ended
up in the soft stuff which is rough riding and not fast, then the wind eased up. This run did boost my confidence that I can get away from the power
of the wind by controlling my direction to the wind. Learn something every time. Bigger kites might not be so bad.

Don, I bought real quick before I changed my mind. I was thinking it was frivolous till I used them and was able to share the run data like that.
I'm interested in the speed readout but it can give you elevation change and other things that would be more of interest to snow skiers.

Nice to see the runs Bobby - I'm trying to figure the wind direction from your top speeds and it seems like many times you were angling higher upwind
as your speed built.

Bear glad I could share a little more with you about riding here!
Mark, the wind actually changed within 180 degrees while I was there which made for the stopping/starting of the wind. It was predominantly out of
the NE, and you can see I was running almost dead downwind as I coasted and slowed down, even the blip of a right turn testing the wind to see if it
would let me turn. But some of those odd angles of travel would be when the wind would shift from North to East or something in between. My initial
roll out from the car was indicating the common wind angle.
This was fun to play with when I got home, and fun to share too. I hope to share many more and will cut them down to just exciting parts from now on
unless the whole ride is somehow interesting.

Phree it says "water resistant enclosure". To me that means a splash is ok, but don't dunk em in the drink. They are really well ventilated. You
can feel them heat you up if you sit still and then woosh, instant coolness when you get your breeze going again.

I imagine the temp is affected by the goggles heating up in the sun or building up heat from my helmeted head sitting still. That cool temp also
could've been caused by all the wind hitting the goggles and evaporating moisture. Annnnndd the side of the goggles with the sensor went into the
shade at that angle. I hadn't even given much attention to the temp readout till you mentioned it.
And yes, cool toy for sure. I could get by without it and would always run a standalone gps along with it, but I must say i enjoyed using it and then
being able to share the ride. Next, I'll look into linking video to the gps track, then it will be info overload for all of us.

Nice Bob. For the folks who don't have one,if you have an Etrex, you can download "Basecamp" from Garmin. It will lay your tracks on a map, chart how
fast and where. And more info than I can describe. I tried it with my Wildwood tracks,WOW! you can see every litte turn and stop or acceleration.
Tech is so sweet nowadays... Yes ,I too am a techno -kiter geek

That's true WG. We used "basecamp" to verify Brian Holgate's record run from my etrex.
