Or looking at Ozone Edge or PL Fury. Ozone Edge is proven race machine.

Regular or Deluxe or doesn't matter?

I love mine ... less technical to fly than the 12 (and more than the 21) but you may get over-powered on a race board? What do you want to know ...?

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

How fast does it turn? Yes I was wondering about being over powered and being able to depower the kite to act as a smaller size as advertised. The race board really picks up speed when foiling on the fins. How well does it handle gusts? I am figuring I could use it as a light wind kite with the race board and when the wind picks up just switch boards to the twin tip? Would I be better off with a 12? How does it handle downwind? I am looking for used so delux or standard whichever happens to be available.

Fast enough :bigok: I actually have a video of me working it hard, somewhere ... ah, downstairs.
Depower is fine for TT cos you just edge up hard against it and go upwind - lots - but I dunno about a race board ... you may just end up gaining more speed? Certainly, there's a lot of range in just sheeting out and 'stalling' the board ...

12 may be better but I find it more sensitive to backstalling (or just plain stalling) in turns or when sheeting in ... get the same feeling with the 15 at the bottom end of its range but you CAN keep it moving without it stalling to get you back to base. When the 12 bottoms out, it's just a stall fest - more technical to fly in that respect.

I am quite ham-fisted though ... and spoiled by the 21 which is impossible to stall!

The 15 is a BIG kite. It is NOT going to turn quickly when compared to just about any recently made LEI. For the size of it though, it does turn decently. I've cranked it into downloop turns, and looped in low winds to get moving. It will turn, if you CRANK the bar. However, you have to take into consideration what you are comparing it against.

It also drifts fairly well. As long as the wind is fairly consistent, it will drift just fine. The only time I've really seen it fall out of the sky is in inconsistent and light winds when throwing a big jump, and swinging underneath it. That does not always work out so well. Most times it recovers before hitting the water, but I have had it hit the water from doing that before (mostly because I was being dumb and didnt control it well enough during the jump).

My recommendation would be to demo one if you can. Funny that you are in Davis... that is where I grew up... Best of luck!

Thank you for the input. That was what I was thinking about the 15.
I like Davis. Still a small town in comparison to the cities I lived in the past. Good location for wind other than the coast. Flysurfers are rare here.
