Kite in Southern Oregon

I am new to power kiting, and am looking for a great place to kite in the Southern Oregon Region, specifically close to Medford. If you have a good website that reports wind conditions that would also be greatly appreciated. I have been using the wind reports from the Medford airport, but the reports seem to be way off.

Let me know of any great places to kite, and if you want to go out some day just hit me up!

Hey Skoden,
I live in Eureka Ca. But I fly an air ambulance into Medford a the time. One thought that came to mind is the top of that table top mountain north of the airport. It's super flat up there, and it seems like it's treeless also. There's some sort of either dirt road or old dirt airstrip on top. I really only kite on water so I'm not too good of judge for land stuff, but it seems wide open up there.
If you want water, and don't mind driving, Pistol River on the coast just south of Gold Beach blows really hard all summer long.
Hope this helps!

Abe Lincoln Elementary - http://g.co/maps/89r8h
Not the biggest area, but nice grass and can get short runs on a board.

Think it’s called Holmes Park - off Stewart - http://g.co/maps/gtuj3
Big area, nice grass... but winds super unpredictable. Have never timed it right to get any depowers to fly there successfully - unpack kite, wind goes away.... You also have to deal with soccer if it's in season....

North High School - Am sure you know where this is. We started flying there last fall as winds were reliable from about 4:45 - 6:30pm almost everyday. Son was in football practice there so wound up goofing around while there... many hours of fun with the Viper and Twister there in an unused side-field by the gym.

White City Library - http://g.co/maps/w5pqk
They happened to plow & level this thing not too long ago, and made some sort of effort to seed it with grass. Well there are lots of tall weeds popping up which is annoying, but the area is huge and winds have been great there. If the huge flag at Lithia (on Hwy 62) is waving on the way there from Medford, you can bet you are good to go... also the airport wind meters seem to hold true for this field (if they show 12mph, odds are it's windy at field - unlike all other places I mentioned). All in all best place we've found here in the area (Medford-ish). The semi-grass is littered with little rocks though, so if you take a spill you will feel it...

I think my kids saw you flying at the waterpark (by Lone Pine), as they were excited to see somebody else at long last here in the area. They live a stones throw from there and if it's windy and they are with mom, am sure one of them will be throwing around something in the air there.

Strange to think how a $200 little Viper (thanks Dino) started us on this money sucking, can't stop buying kites - disorder we have now.... :) -Pat

Thanks for the good places to go to, I am surprised I didn't think of NMHS as I went there for high school. I was the one flying at the waterpark, as I also live a stones throw away. I just ordered a Viper S from Dino, and can't wait for it to get here! Maybe Ill see you guys out there sometime in the near future!
