Advice on board??

Hello all! I have been flying pretty much every day or every other day since I got the kite (2.6m PL Viper) a little over a week ago. Really been enjoying it and the winds remarkably have cooperated (6-10 mph for a few hours every day). Yesterday it popped up to 10-12 mph according to the weather app on my phone so I went out with a friend and flew and had a great time. Today it was similar conditions, so I went out by myself and was launching decently by myself and having fun when OUT OF NOWHERE comes a freaking gust. The thing picks me up, the wind cuts out, and suddenly I'm in a knot on the ground before I know wth is going on. I let go (DUH) and let the KKs take care of the kite and waited on the adrenaline to pass to feel how bad I hurt myself. Nothing too bad, just sore for now with a few bruises... Anywho... I walked it off, kept flying, but after another weaker gust I decided to call it quits.

After today, I started thinking about speeding up the process of getting a board. I really love flying so far (even after today's minor set back) but I'm thinking in the higher wind days having something to kinda transfer some of the wind energy to might work out better in my favor for days where the wind is a little faster. I was gonna hold off and get a bigger kite first, but now I'm not sure which I wanna go with first :puzzled:

Anyways, just throw some advice at me cause i dunno what I'm talking about really, just general wonderings I suppose...

In the mean time, I'll be playing the guitar and watching too much Law and Order, keeping to the insides for a few days.

Wow, just realized how that may have come out wrong.... not getting a bigger kite for these conditions/soon ish, just saying thats what the plan was for in a while when I'm ready for it before trying to move on to boards. Lesson learned: not ready for faster winds yet (or faster winds with FASTER gusts....)

Hey!
How heavy are you?
If you are relatively light, you may be okay using that kite to landboard.

Depending on what terrain you are riding on, your probably okay getting a board.
I feel like it's very difficult to get hurt on a landboard unless you are way over-powered
and are riding in salt flats or somewhere with very rough terrain (or jumping).

As a rule of thumb, if you feel safe flying a specific size kite in a specific wind range,
you shouldn't have to worry too much about adding a landboard into the mixture.

If you have any other questions - let me know.
Have fun!
