Closed! Remembered my old username!

Hey guys I had a profile on here ages ago but forgot the login info :puzzled: In the past I have purchased an apex 2 7.5m from Dakitez, and actually sold the same kite to a forum member Christopher K.

The reason I am on here is becuase I got a new job and am back in action looking for a smaller kite for those windy days here in Minnesota.
You guys always pull through so im hoping someone can hook me up! :spin:

Thanks awindofchange! If I cannot snag a used kite for a good price in the near future you will be the first one to know about it with an order from yours truly.

Hey, welcome back to the fold.

I was just on the "for sale" forum and saw this: http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=21063

looks like a blade IV 4m like you're looking for.

Hope that helps.

I'm going to take a nap now

BLADE 4.0 is WAY WAY more kite than apex2 7.5m!

You sure you know what you are asking for?

A 7.5m Apex is roughly equivalent to a 3 - 4.5m low aspect fixed bridle kite. I'm thinking if a low aspect 7.5m depower was too much then a high aspect 4m in the same conditions would likely be more than a handlful for you.

I could be wrong but if I were dropping down from a 7.5m depower I would be going to a 2 - 3m fixed bridle, not a 4m.

very interesting, i never would have thought dropping that much surface area would have the same amount of power. I have read that the blade has a lot of lift for jumping. If i can pick one up for a good deal i will still give it a try. As far as i know they dont make many high aspect 3m kites??

No, not too many lifty kites come in sub 4m sizes but race kites have very high A/Rs and you can get them in the 2 - 3m range.

Or you could go with a higher aspect but smaller depower like an old 5m Frenzy (tough to find) 5m Montana (I think they stopped making those too) or a 4.5m Yeti which they still make (and I"m selling mine).

Those would be a good step down if your 7.5 was too much. They'd in still give you the lift you want (though generally its not recommended to be jumping with kites under 5m in size) but be much more tame in winds that would over power a similarly sized fixed bridle kite like the blade.

My 4m Bego would be WAY too much power in the same winds I'd just start to break my 4.5m Yeti out in.

Boardin- in addition to surface area, you have Angle of Attack and Projected Area, all affecting the amount of power that can be generated. Additionally, the apex is a depowerable kite on a bar, while the blade is a fixed-bridle kite on handles. We are really talking the difference between a VW Bus (apex2 7.5m) and Porsche 911(Blade 4.0). I'm not kidding when I compare the apex to a lumbering beast and the blade to a high-performance sports car! These kites are very different from each other!

Very cool guys! Im always open to learn something new, i guess i didnt think that changing the aspect ratio could make up for that large of a loss in surface area. What do you guys think of the 4.5m gin yeti b-roc is selling? Anyone ever fly one? I know he has been trying to sell his for a while now, is there good reason for this?

what if i went with like a 2.5 or maybe a 3.5m blurr. i know they have high aspect ratios and come in smaller sizes. is that something i would be able to fly and still be able to jump it when i feel like getting a rush?
