Congrats on the trip! I have travelled to Cancun + Mayan Riviera 20+ times (family has condos down there). Started kiting 4 years ago and took my
lessons down there. Go-to kite size is a 12-13m. Maybe bring a 9m if it starts to really go off. I have even thought a 14-16 light wind kite would
be nice. Plenty of 10-12 knot days. The area is not like further south where there are consistent 20knot days. Most people chase the wind as it
depends how the weather moves down the coast. If you are in Cancun rent a car or take a taxi to Isla Blanca 30 minutes north (some of the best flat
water lagoon riding I have done). If the North wind is blowing this is a great spot. Further down the coast is Tulum and Extreme Control kite school
(ask for Marco the owner, he can help out with gear, local knowledge, etc.) with a great beach and surf. I have to say the beaches in Cancun are
crowded. I don't think it's going to be easy to find a place to launch or even ride for that matter. Good luck and have great time.
