I visited the Canaan Valley Windfest this past weekend. This was my first organized kite-related gathering and I came away really pleased that I
decided to check it out. Wings Over Washington, Richmond Air Force and a group from Norfolk, VA were on the scene (forgive me if there were others
I've overlooked).
The wind was so-so, the temperature was mega hot (near 100 degrees), but most notably, the people were outstanding. What a nice community kite flyers
are.
My son (5) and I had a blast. We made a sled kite and flew the sail off it. We flew the kites we brought with us and even tried a few new ones. I'm
psyched for the opportunity to have flown a Revolution kite for the first time. A special Rev at that, a 911 tribute kite design that I'm told is very
rare.
Thank you to all involved! We'll be looking forward to next year's event and now we're motivated to get involved with other gatherings too.
