Hey Texas kiters look
I got bored and found 2011's historical wind data from NOAA.
If your really big into having perfect riding conditions that let you ride both ways on the beach then look. (southeast aka SE lets you ride both
ways)
135 degrees is dead SE winds, you can scroll up and down and watch the numbers change on this text document.
WDir DegT is the compass direction in degrees(135=southeast)
here is a good compass ( http://www.cloudbait.com/science/compass.gif)
So by the end of August good wind should be back

I've been driving down to corpus Christi on the weekends. Southeast wind everyday , 12-15mph from 4pm to 8pm. I love thermals, perfectly smooth
onshore wind.

Sorry for the Hijack but....
Van, Where are you buggying in corpus? The guys at the local shop there don't buggy and could not tell me where to go. It is alot closer for me
than Galveston.

Actually, not this time of the year. There are too much traffic on the beach. During the late fall and early springs I am landboarding and
buggying on mustang island at entrance #1 or #2. I ran into a few guys from dallas, austin and Canada earlier in the year when I was down there.
Right now, the thermals are great for kitesurfing. Have you been down to Rockport ? That's my hometown. I usually surf the beach there or the ski
basin. Let me know if you want to make a trip to Rockport any one of the weekends coming up. I am working 12hr day shifts right now so have friday
to sunday off. Rockport doesn't have any buggy areas but the beach is a bay beach so water is smooth.

Yeah buggying is kind of shut down in general right now b/c of the crowds. I think after school starts it should start to get better. I have been
through Rockport but did not stop to kite. I think I am going to try to hit EastBeach for a long weekend after it cools off or maybe even hit the
DBBB.

That's mustang island you are referring to. The north end is Port Aransas andthe south end is part of corpus christi on the ocean side. It's
connected to land on the south side and yes, it's packed. The ferry wait is about 1 hour on a busy weekend. The ferry is free.
