Support my Research Project and win a Kite Board!

Dear Mr. and Ms. Kiter,

I’m Sebastian and I’m an active member in our kite community. When I’m not kiting, I’m working at the Chair of Marketing and Innovation Management at the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus (Germany). My research field is market research (preference measurement) and I’m writing my PhD thesis in this topic.

Typically, a PhD thesis is a „dry subject“. Therefore, I decided to be more funky and connect my research project with my hobby instead of using standard research examples (e.g., Cars, Bikes, Jobs).

In this respect I created a survey regarding the topic of kite surfing and you can be a part of it, if you like to. I’ll start a lottery among all participants with twelve prizes: One brand-new Kite Board (fitting your size), One Kite Bag (fitting your size) and 10 Kite Shirts.

IMPORTANT: This survey is explicitly not for inexperienced guys. If you want to take part, terms such as Hangtime, Depower or Bar Feeling should not be unknown words for you. Similarly you should know, that Cabrinha isn’t a #@%$#!tail and North isn’t just an orientation ;-).

EXTRA IMPORTANT: Please read all notes and hints carefully and answer every question focused and prudential. If you are just clicking through or taking part multiple times, you will be excluded from the lottery. You can double your chances by answering clearly and focused (No #@%$#!!). Several Hints will be shown.

Taking part takes about 20 minutes. Questionnaire will be found here:https://www.maciem.tu-cottbus.de/kitesurfing.html

Please activate JavaScript, to get the survey working properly :-(.

If you have questions, write me an eMail: kitesurfing@tu-cottbus.de

Best Regards
Sebastian

Also done. Simple opinion questions using a slider between two options.
The only personal info asked for is;
Quote:

Socio-demographic data
What's your sex:
What's your year of birth:
Where are you living currently:
What's your current profession:
What's your highest education level:
At the end, what's your income after taxes per year:

Kite-related Details)
How long are you kiting:
What's your kiting level:
Which of the following statements regarding your kite equipment fits you most:
Which of the following statements regarding the purchase of kite equipment fits you most:
How do you keep informed about kite sports:
What's your most prefered kite spot:

Contact option for lottery
Give me any contact option (e.g. eMail):

income after taxes per year is wrong. Answer choices are in monthly income not yearly.

Too many kites, boards, and etceteras.

Hey guys,

Elnica: Thanks for the hint. Problem fixed!

All demographica there are just optional. Would be cool, if you help me out with them, but this is not mandatory! Main aim is the survey, not the demographic data set :-).

Kamikuza: Thanks!

Guys, don't be confused.
The board, bag and shirts are not made by myself. They are sponsored and brand-new stuff by a well known brand :-). Which one I can't say, this would induce bias.

if you have further hints and notes. let me know, I'll keep an eye on this thread :-)

Thanks
Sebastian, Mr. PhD Kite :)

If I read things right this survey is for kite surfers ?
A whole lot of folks on this forum ride strictly on land . Are you looking for the input of experienced land ( foil influenced ) kiters ?

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse

Hey Bladerunner,

good question. Easy Answer: Even experienced land kiters can take part. I'll be honest: I just prepared the survey just for kite surfers (cos I'am one), but land kiters also need kites to get dragged and this survey is a special kite-related survey. So, I guess, all questions can probably be answered by land kiters :-).

All the best
