It would be different there with the air being 70% as dense as earth's. 1/3 the gravity would make lift an issue though.

Wow, look at all that space. Who's up for a trip? Makes Ivanpah look small in comparison. Just think of the air and float you could get from one jump:wee:

Atmospheric pressure on at its highest is 0.2PSI, or about 1 % of earths. On the brightside, the wind speeds can reach 400 mph. The bad side, without a pressure suit, your blood boils at less body temperature.

So help me reconcile 70% density of the atmosphere but 1% atmospheric pressure? I like to understand things and that went beyond my grasp.

The actual number for pressure is 0.007 Atm, I rounded up. I am going to suggest the article you were quoting was written by someone with very poor math and/or physics skills. Where did you get your number?
Earth atmosphere is about 70 times denser than Mars's.

not sure. did a quick search. probably qwikipedia. So 70 times thinner and 400 mph winds. What size kites do we need?

By thinner do you mean less viscous or less dense?

A 400 mph wind on mars would have about the same kinetic energy as about an 90 mph wind on earth.

I guess density is what makes up the concentration of air molecules that power a kite.
