New aspect of the Sport for me startin' today!

My newFlexifoil buggy is arriving today, and I'm so stoked, never used one, never even seen one before for that matter. I can't wait to try it out on a harvested bean field, they are smooth as can be, not a beach, but hey i live in Minnesota! Winds are around 10 mph...wondering what size kite to start out with..6, 8..10 maybe? I have lots of room to figure it out :wee:

All depends on the nature of the wind (smoot/gusy), terrain(soft sand/hard packed/grass) and weight of the rider.

live to kite another day!
Try the 6m first, if not enough go a bit bigger until you find the right size. After a few session you will be able to tell what size is needed.

Well, i started with the six and could not go back up wind for nothing, wind was shifting and variable, which is typical for our area especially towards evening. I put up my eight and it was much better, got powered up a bit at times which was fun but bumpy, sure wish i had a nice long beach to play on. It was a blast, i couldn't believe how little input was needed to change the position of the kite in the window, if i started loosing speed i'd turn slightly downwind and away i'd go! Turning was fun, got it figured out fairly well after a while. Only one OBE, and i stayed on my feet and kept the kite in the air. All in all, it was a good time for sure!

I don't have a ton of hands on with Access but fly around them a lot.

For 10mph you should easily be able to go to the 8m. It will be a good size. If you are experienced with them you will also know it is a very versitile size. I would only suggest the 6m if you aren't familiar with your kites yet. You will be underpowered at 10mph with a 6m. 10m is probably what you will grow into for that wind if you don't mind it's added lift but the 8 serves up the power by spanking it hard!

If you snowkite I would match what you would fly in the same winds using a snowboard on slow snow.

Of course make the choice on the small side when you get there but it is easier to learn if you aren't having to squeeze power out of the kite at the same time. Access are well matched to the buggy and not too aggresive so taking a bit of power isn't going to work against you. I have a feeling your 8m acces will become your go to buggy engine?

That is one sweet quiver!

See I prefer grass fields to beaches. But I did have to maneuver around birds trying to kill me, Stupid seagulls, and sand castles. Curse you kids and your sand castles. Especially the ones with moats. At 35 mph those things can sneak up on you and when your least expecting it BLAM!!!!! loss of control, pain, and suffering. Although the wind was beautiful constant and pure.

It was a blast Aaron, but a bit rough. Check FB... Do you have decent fields out your way? Maybe i could do a combo Kiting/mountain bikng trip in your neck of the woods. I want to hit the Cayuna trails near Crosby! And yeah, frost here too...
