I just spoke to a kite store in Sunset Beach and he was saying that landboarding and buggying are not allowed at most beaches. Is this true.

Where can I go with my landboard besides the dry lakebeds?

I've been asking the same question on this forum, but nobody responded. i probably talked to the same guy at sunset beach. i've heard seal beach is a good buggy spot too. it seems best off season at low tide. the lifeguards don't seem to care as much when there aren't people at risk. this summer i've been trying to find some grassy meadows, or a highschool soccer field. i haven;t found them yet. only been looking two weeks though. i've been scudding on venice beach though, mid week when there are less peoplewhere do you live? maybe we can cover more ground between us. it just takes one killer spot. let me know. i think i will check out thhe buggy fest in sept. at the dry lake bed in socal. let me know what you find.

I really don't think it'll be a problem riding Sunset or Belmont as long as you stay away from the houses. Summertime yes, but this time of year the beach is empty. Anybody been to mile square park? I like the name, now I'm just wondering how many trees and other obstacles there are.

I tried huntington while out there visiting my brother and didn't get bothered at all. If you go down to the dog beach there you'll definitely be fine..however, I didn't have much luck there, little room and the sand was rather deep and soft.
From what I heard while out there Seal Beach is a good spot, but during the summer months it's pretty busy with the kitesurfers and apparently they have areas designated to flying and no flying. I think I found the link to where you are and aren't allowed to fly during summer months on ikitesurf.com

I did see a few people flying over in venice beach as well, but that's somewhat of a haul depending on where you're coming from and I'm not completely sure it's legal or what there restrictions are.

Where is mile square park? I live in Venice/Santa monica. Yesterday I got a short run in between santamonica and venice beach at low tide. Mid state near pismo the sand is more packed. Low tide is the key to the socal beaches for landboarding. when the tide goes out there is enough room on the wet packed sand. the wind was almost onshore. so to get back where i started i had to go upwind slightly. the only prob i had was my 7m montana didn't pack enough punch to get completely back upwind. Do you know of any beaches with directly onshore wind? i'm sure there will be less kitesurfers there because of that too. it was only blowing 8-11mph. i set up right near a life guard station and he didn't seem to care. I was very cautious of the mid week beach goers though. i'm curious about Seal and manhattan beach though.

Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo all have wind directly onshore (prevailing direction anyway).

Went down there yesterday to scope it out and those rat bastards have outlawed all skateboards in the park! Granted, a ATB isn't really a skateboard but that's not something I really want to try to convince a judge on.
